For all those who think that UPSC should move to Computer-based Tests for Prelims because its more efficient etc.

See what is happening in the SSC. They are struggling to manage the huge load, centres, processes and exam integrity.

I am sure their system will learn and improve incrementally. But in the process, some candidates tend to suffer.

I hope UPSC is in wait and watch mode. They should think about it only when there is enough experience and learning through errors by some other exam bodies.

Hansal Mehta's "Gandhi" becomes the first-ever Indian series to have world premiere at Toronto International Film Festival.

The series is based on historian Ramachandra Guha’s two books — Gandhi before India and Gandhi: The Years that Changed the World.

Anil Swarup sir (Retd. IAS) is from the 1981 batch, UP cadre. He’s had an illustrious career, serving as Coal Secretary and later in the Education Department. Not every IAS gets to be a Secretary — it’s the highest post a civil servant can hold in a ministry.

After retirement, he’s authored books offering deep insights into the ethical dimensions of a civil servant’s life. One of them is aimed especially at GS4 aspirants.

On the 12th August morning (10 AM) he’s coming to LevelUp IAS to personally guide students on how to approach the Civil Services. There’s been a lot of debate lately — is it worth spending years on multiple attempts? Has the IAS lost some of its sheen? What exactly is the role of a civil servant in society and in government?

If you can spare the time, I’d strongly recommend attending this session on the morning of the 12th. It promises to be extremely insightful. Seats are limited — only about 60 — so registration is mandatory:

Mile Sur Mera Tumhara.

Stand up Comedy doesn't always have to be about body, shame, youth, marriage, love, sex, and cuss words.

She has been able to bring back healthy comedy. And also been able to add some message. Without loosing the comic part anywhere along the way.

GN Devy has termed India as a linguistic civilization. It is indeed.

Enjoy these 8 mins.

At LevelUp IAS, today we had a great bhet with Anil Swarup sir. He is a 1981 batch IAS of UP cadre.

He had a great tenure as Secretary with two prime ministers: Manmohan Singh and then Modi.

After retirement, he has written 4 books including one on ethical dilemma of civil servants. His 5th book is coming the day after tomorrow, its on How to Make it Happen.

We will publish the podcast on YT soon. It was highly relevant to the aspirants. Stay tuned.

It seems that NCERT has formed some committee to study this matter. Various evidences regarding the Maratha map will be discussed by the experts to arrive at some consensus.

As the things are evolving rapidly, I am keeping this video in abeyance. Any video prepared today will be outdated just in a few days. Lets wait for right time.

Pravin Swamy has come up with a tantalizing hypothesis to explain why Trump and Munir are coming so close and India is now out of favour. Its because America wants to outsource security of Middle East (West Asia) to Pakistan to cut costs and save American lives. And Pakistani military seems interested in this business.

But we should not forget that Indian subcontinent has been a provider of manpower for many centuries now.

Indentured labour to build railways in Africa, plantation in Fiji, soldiers to die in the two World Wars, cheap labour in Gulf countries today, doctors in Europe, coders in Silicon valley, Farmers in Italy, drivers in Canada, and nurses in Japan.

If Trump now wants to use expendable Paki soldiers to die in the West Asia while he saves America lives, its nothing new. That is how the world has used Indian subcontinent. That has been the biggest export item.

Always.

Main examination is around the corner. This is not the time to surrender. This is not the time to stop. Just persevere.

And, on the other side, you will wonder at yourself with amazement.
