After attacking MCD workers, then the CM, now dog lovers are protesting at the ABC centres.

Late night preplanned gathering of gang of dog lovers at ABC. They demanded right to inspect the premises after 10 PM in the night and also immediate release of stray dogs back to streets late night. All of it led to unruly protest. The whole drama went on till 4 AM in the morning. Puri raat chala ye issue.

Blind love for one sometimes may become intolerance towards everyone else. It is sad.

Of these 10 books, I got 8 books this year. Somehow I skipped two books, never noticed them being published. Hoping to better the score next year.

Taking cue from this news, can you write 5 sentences each on the contributions of following people to the House?

1. Gopal Krishan Gokhale
2. Lala Lajpat Ray
3. CR Das
4. Vithalbhai Patel

(PS: One equally important person, missing from the list, is Motilal Nehru. Ideally, his name should also figure in this list. Agar mai padha-likha click-baity type patrakar hota, to is news ki headline hoti - "Name of Motilal Nehru is skipped".)

Historically speaking, Russian demands are more conservative and logical. You just have to look at the history of this issue over 250 years, from the fall of Ottomans till today. Nothing has changed.

We can definitely debate whether the means adopted today by Russia are ethical, but we cannot deny the fact that it is the western countries which are expanding their influence eastwards, thereby egging East European countries for confrontation.

Even now the west is not accepting the basic things. They are able hold out longer because the cost is being paid not by the western people, but by Ukrainians. If tomorrow the western people start dying, suddenly they will feel urgency to resolve the issue.

Today's TheHindu has come out with this Editorial on Dog issue. Most rationally argued, scientific and sensitive.

Hats off...!

If Illegal migration is not a concept and if anyone can settle anywhere peacefully, why do we have to go through partitions of India in the first place? Why do we have borders that our armed forces defend?

I seriously wonder who gave this woman a position of power in the previous dispensation.

People like her bring discredit to the whole human rights supporting community (which includes people like me). Such statements confirm biases of anti- Human rights people.

In the name of Indian constitution, I wholeheartedly denounce her.

When we talk of Akbar’s syncretism, some things deserve special attention (apart from all the usual points we generally study).

🔹First, he didn’t just work on Hindu–Muslim unity, but also tried to heal sectarian rifts within Islam—like the Shia–Sunni divide.
🔹Second, there was a clear class dimension: at the elite level, syncretism was promoted through translation of texts and court debates, while at the popular level, it was supported by patronising local movements and saints.
🔹Third, we shouldn’t restrict the idea of syncretism to Hindus and Muslims alone—Akbar also reached out to Jains, Christians, Parsis and others.
🔹Finally, all this was not just about social policy. It was about the kind of kingship he was fashioning. Sulah-i Kul was at the heart of his vision of sovereignty, and that is the central piece of the whole thing.

If we keep these angles in mind, our understanding of Akbar's syncretism becomes much sharper.

Now read the above answer once more for better appreciation.

I have been ranting a lot about Dogs issue for last few days. From your reactions here, I gauge that most of you agree with me, while some disagree.

In either case, do watch this video. A lot of interesting things are there. So much so that you would be surprised to know how deeply rooted this issue is.

If you disagree, let me know in comment section. I will write replies there on all relevant comments.

And yes, dont forget to Hype it. Your likes, comments, share and Hypes are what keep me fired enough to go out of the way and record such videos.

This is the Ganapati season. Missing my city.

Been in Delhi for 14-15 years now. First as a student and then as a teacher. Every year, Ganapati festival season generally comes around Pre/Mains exam dates. Couldn't go home for this festival in so many years.

North India may have the capital of India. But it doesn't have traditional dhol-tasha pathaks of Ganapati festival.

Missing every second of this mahol.

"There are many myths that prevail about the founding of the Ganpati festival. One of these is that it was organised for disseminating anti-colonial messages. This was probably not true.

When the Tukaram palkhi was insulted by Muslims in Poona, the lower classes decided to abstain from the Moharram festival. Ganesh Chaturthi festival that we now know of today had its origins in 1894 in Poona, as a Hindu substitute for Moharram.

However, despite not being anti-colonial in origin, what was remarkable about Ganesh Chaturthi is that it united all classes of Hindus under a common banner."
