Let's conclude with a look at the huge Trinity Cathedral of Baia Mare in Romania, under construction in our time. The temple is proof that Romania has finally reined in concrete, iron and stone after the Soviet and post-Soviet years - and although I would have preferred a temple built of traditional materials, the fact that from a concrete frame a tenfold enlarged Wallachian monastery temple with Byzantine elements is born is impressive.

Besides, the cathedral is also a victory over modernism - we can see how its design changed from an ugly construction of the postmodern school to the current beauty, whose finished parts can already be seen in the upper part of the cathedral and in the lower church.

Utterly confusing is the Monastery of the Dormition in Goranxi, Albania. Built at the very beginning of the XVII century, it has distinctly Gothic features - and although they certainly appeared during later rebuilds, neo-Gothic, and moreover with a clear understanding of the architects that it clothes a post-Byzantine temple is clearly not expected to see in rural Albania.

However, suspicion is inspired by the portals of the temple - strikingly they resemble the real Gothic-Byzantine portals of the temples of Crete. Is it a coincidence caused by the convergent application of Gothic elements to the traditional Orthodox model, a conscious reference of a talented architect or, perhaps, an indication of an even more mysterious history of the temple? We can only guess.
