"Sunday is a holy day.."
The divine service sanctifies! If the Christian does not go to church on Sunday, how will he be sanctified?
Sunday morning is the time for divine service.. but in our modern Greek society of advanced concepts, life is organized ignoring what the call of the bell and the gathering for divine service mean.
Oh, if they only knew what "rights" they give to the devil and how much more vulnerable they become to his traps, remaining naked from the "grace" of divine service.. - St. Paisios the Athonite

Maslenitsa (Russian: Мaсленица, Ukrainian: Масниця, Belarusian: Масьленіца; also known as Butter Week, Crepe week, or Cheesefair Week) week has begun.
“In our Church the week before the Great Lent (Feb. 24 - Mar. 1) is called Cheese-Fare Week in translation from Greek. When Christianity came to Russia, Russian people did not know about cheese or butter. The name Maslenitsa was created to explain what can be eaten during these days because the word Maslenitsa is derived from the Russian word for butter. During the week before the Great Lent people may eat dairy products but are not allowed to eat meat.”

Elder, what should we do when we want to ask a Saint for something?
- First make the sign of the cross in the Name of the Holy Trinity.
Then say the prayer of the Virgin Mary “Rejoice, Pure Virgin Mary” and then invoke the Saint three times.
For example: “Holy Great Martyr George, pray to God for us!”, and then ask for what you want, but let it be useful for the soul.
Ask for this.
St. Gabriel (Urgebadze)

Why did God not create the world at once, but in six days? To teach us, in things, that we too must not be hasty in our works, but move forward gradually, wisely. If you pray, don't run your tongue. If you are studying the Gospel, do not rush to read, but concentrate your attention on every detail of the sacred text. If you make something material, make it in an effortless way. By creating the world in six days, the Lord gives us an example. Let's follow it.
Face with humble submission to God's will every sorrow, every toil, every injustice that others do to you. Say: "Thy will be done" (Matthew 6:10). And keep in mind that God's mercy regulates everything for your good. And that the Lord can easily turn all sorrow into joy.
St. John of Kronstadt

The Lord “sleeps” bodily in the tomb; in soul He has descended
into Hades and preached salvation to the souls there. The Old Testament Saints were not in Heaven, although they abode in
the consoling faith that they would be brought there as soon as the Promised One came to earth, since they had lived by faith in Him.
There also the Forerunner foretold His coming.
When the Lord descended, all who believed cleaved to Him and were lifted up by Him into Heaven. But even that Heaven is only the threshold of the true Paradise which will be revealed after the general resurrection and Judgement.
Although all of the New Testament Saints are also blessed
in Heaven, they await an even more perfect bliss in the age to
come, with a new Heaven and new earth (cf. Rev. 21:1), when
God will be all in all (cf. I Cor. 15:28)

In one church, a priest noticed that almost every Sunday at the Liturgy, a certain servant of God with two crutches stood and prayed. Once after the service, he approached her, asked her name, inquired about the circumstances of her life and, by the way, inquired whether it was difficult for her to be in the church of God every Sunday with such sore legs. In response, the woman uttered amazing words: "Yes, Father, it is difficult, but before my legs go to the church, my heart goes first."
On reading the Word of God.
A monk came to his spiritual father and said: “Father! I will stop reading the word of God.” “Why is that?” asked the elder. “I don’t understand what is written,” answered the monk. “Child,” the elder then said to him, “when sheep find a fertile pasture, they greedily grab the grass and swallow it without chewing, trying only to grab as much as possible, then, having eaten their fill, they chew it. So you, while you have time and opportunity, read the divine books as much as possible without laziness, and the dark will become light for you. For thanks to habit you will understand the incomprehensible, or you will learn from the fathers and teachers of the Church, or finally, if there is no one to explain it to you, the Lord Himself will enlighten you.”
Archpriest V. Guryev

What will you do, Elder, if you hear that there is a war?
I will enter the Church and celebrate a Divine Liturgy.
Life without Christ, death without Christ, truth without Christ, the sun without Christ and the universes without Him, all are terrible nonsense, unbearable martyrdom, Sisyphean suffering, hell! I want neither life nor death without You, Sweetest Lord!
I want neither truth, nor justice, nor paradise, nor eternity.
No, no! I want You alone. You alone be in all, in all and above all!
St. Justin Popovich

The three friends that we should make good
friends with:
THE HOLY DISTANCE, meaning discernment. Not to tire others with our presence.–
THE HOLY PATIENCE...How many people has it placed in Paradise.
THE HOLY SILENCE...It is an art to know how to speak. It is, however, a greater art to be able to remain silent.
Not to wound!
Not to despair!
Not to betray!
Not to be proud!
- Saint Porphyrios

Heaven is a symbol of another existence, another life. But what happens at the moment of Ascension? The Lord ascends with His body, the same one that was recently saturated with ordinary physical food. He takes human nature to another world, still unknown to us.
