Review after around 20 hours in Outer Worlds 2

It's wild that Outer Worlds 2 has basically zero hype. The first Outer Worlds never really clicked with me, it sort of felt like a knockoff Fallout in a way, but TOW2 is clicking waaay more.

Playing on Xbox Series X and its suprisingly good looking and bug-free, especially considering I was playing it for review before the latest patches and early access. Playing on performance mode the most because it actually doesn't feel like much of a difference from quality or balanced (I did a bunch of screenshots to compare and they're honestly so similar). The smaller handcrafterd areas are great. There aren’t a gazillion empty planets to slog through like in Starfield, which honestly just makes me realise more and more that Starfield really should have gone the same way.

My memory is a bit rusty on the first game, but it basically feels like it does all the same things as the first game, just like... better. The gunplay’s fine, nothing special, but it feels good. Stealth is kinda janky, and I was bummed that hacking is just a skill thing with no mini-game. But where Outer Worlds 2 really surprised me is how much theyv'e stuck to the RPG side of things, it's not dummed down into a shooter, it's like a proper RPG, with lots of reading and talking and makes what skills you pick really feel like they matter. Could be good for replayablitlity.

I don't think this is going to be a GOTY contender or anything, but I’ve really been enjoying my time with it. Interested in hearing what fans of the first game think, since I wasn't.

Can AI create next 'Grand Theft Auto'? Take-Two Interactive CEO says no: “There is no creativity that can exist by definition in any AI model, because it is data-driven. You wouldn’t end up with anything very good. You end up with something pretty derivative.”
