Addis Ababa Science and Technology University conducted a two-round Research Ethics Training for researchers, focusing on the publication process, authorship responsibilities, research ethics and integrity, and scientific paper retraction.
The first round of training was led by Dr. Solomon Binor, who provided insights into the ethical considerations of academic publishing. The second round was conducted by Dr. Habib Mohammed, the Head of the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Center of Excellence at AASTU, who emphasized the need for ethical awareness in conducting novel research.
The training highlighted the critical role of research integrity in maintaining the credibility of scientific publications. Participants explored key topics such as the responsibilities of authors—including the first author, corresponding author, and co-authors—ensuring originality, obtaining co-author approvals, and adhering to ethical guidelines.

AASTU and Manufacturing Industry Development Institute Sign MoU on Nine Projects
Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU) and the Manufacturing Industry Development Institute have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on nine key projects aimed at advancing Ethiopia’s manufacturing sector.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Milkesa Jagema, Director General of the Institute, and Dr. Abraham Debebe, AASTU’s Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer.
During the signing ceremony, both institutions emphasized the importance of collaboration in achieving national manufacturing industry goals. They highlighted that working together and supporting each other will play a vital role in driving industrial development and fostering innovation.
This partnership is expected to enhance research, technology transfer, and capacity-building efforts, contributing to the sustainable growth of Ethiopia’s manufacturing sector.
