ዓለም አቀፍ የአካል ጉዳተኞች ቀን በዓለም አቀፍ ደረጃ ለ34ኛ በኢትዮጵያ ደግሞ ለ33ኛ ጊዜ በዛሬው ዕለት እየተከበረ ይገኛል፡፡ ከዚህ ጋር ተያይዞ አዲስ አበባ ሳይንስና ቴክኖሎጂ ዩኒቨርሲቲ በዛሬው እለት የዩኒቨርሲቲው ማህበረሰብ ፤ተማሪዎች እና ጥሪ የተደረገላቸው እንግዶች በተገኙበት "አካል ጉዳተኝነትን የሚያካትት ማኅበረሰብ መገንባት ለተሻለ ማኅበራዊ እድገት" በሚል መሪ ሀሳብ ተከበረ፡፡
በዚህ በዓል ስለ አካል ጉዳተኞች ግንዛቤ የሚሰጡ ተሞክሮ፤አካል ጉዳተኞች የሚገጥሟቸው ተግዳሮቶች እና ቴክኖሎጂዊ የመፍትሄ ሃሳቦች የቀረቡበት ነበር ፡፡

The Diamond Club Symposium 2025, held from December 3–5 and co-hosted by Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU), highlighted Africa’s digital innovation journey. Dr. Belete Molla, Minister of Innovation and Technology, at The Diamond Club Symposium 2025, said digital transformation is reshaping the world and that global digital leadership is a shared responsibility to ensure technology uplifts humanity and promotes fairness. He highlighted Ethiopia’s progress through the newly endorsed Digital Ethiopia 2030 Strategy, showing that successful digital development requires planning, inclusive policies, and empowering citizens via digital identity, infrastructure, and support for local startups. Dr. Belete emphasized four pillars of effective leadership: building digital skills, fostering local innovation, strengthening international cooperation, and promoting sustainability, urging participants to act and collaborate with nations like the Republic of Korea to create an inclusive, future-ready digital world.

Professor Junseok Hwang of Seoul National University, an organizer of the symposium, emphasized that Korea and Ethiopia share a strong history of resilience, nation-building, and determination to shape their futures. He highlighted how Korea’s transformation from post-liberation hardship to global digital leadership mirrors Ethiopia’s current rise. Through the Diamond Club initiative, he stressed the need for new global frameworks that promote digital equity, scientific innovation, and shared prosperity, affirming Ethiopia’s readiness to lead with its growing digital capacity, research ecosystem, and strong universities, while reaffirming Korea’s commitment to support AI universities, digital hubs, and innovation across Africa.

During the symposium, His Excellency Dr. Mekuria Haile, Commissioner of the Federal Civil Service Commission, highlighted Ethiopia’s progress in public service transformation through digital innovation. He noted key initiatives such as Digital Ethiopia 2025, the new Digital Ethiopia 2030 Strategy, and the Mesob Center one-stop service hubs, which promote efficiency, transparency, and inclusive access. Dr. Mekuria emphasized the vital role of universities, local innovators, and global partnerships in building digital skills and interoperable systems, calling for collective action toward a smarter and more inclusive Ethiopia and world.

The Bio and Emerging Technology Institute (BETin) and Addis Ababa Science and Technology
University (AASTU) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding to advance
collaborative efforts in key strategic areas.
The agreement outlines joint efforts in research & training, resource mobilization, and capacity
development, aimed at accelerating the country’s technological progress. The partnership is
expected to create opportunities for collaborative research projects, knowledge exchange, and
skill-enhancement programs that support national development priorities.
During the MoU signing ceremony, the presidents of both institutions emphasized the
importance of strengthening collaboration.
