Teketel Girma Gindose from the Department of Industrial Chemistry presented his research on “Synthesis and Characterization of Zinc Oxide-Based Heterojunction Nanocomposites for Photocatalytic Degradation of Methyl Blue.” Similarly, Tessema Derbe Hailegebreal, also from the Department of Industrial Chemistry, defended his dissertation titled “Synthesis of a Magnetic Zeolite-A/Biochar/MOF-5 Composite for the Removal of Fluoride and Chromium(VI) from Aqueous Solution.”

የፌደራል የስነ-ምግባርና ፀረ-ሙስና ኮሚሽን ከዩኒቨርሲቲዎች ጋር በመተባበር ከግንቦት 10 እስከ 12/2017 ዓ.ም በሱሉልታ ከተማ በሚገኘው የአፍሪካ የአመራር ልህቀት አካዳሚ ባካሄደው አገር አቀፍ የተማሪዎች የስነ-ምግባር አምባሳደርነት ውድድር ዩኒቨርሲቲያችንን ወክለው የተወዳደሩት የስነ-ምግባርና ፀረ-ሙስና ክበብ አባላት ባደረጉት ብርቱ ውድድር ሁሉም ተወዳዳሪ ተማሪዎች የተሳትፎ የምስክር ወረቀትና የመፅሃፍ ሽልማት የተሰጣቸው ሲሆን ዩኒቨርሲቲውም ባደረገው ንቁ ተሳትፎ የምስክር ወረቀት ተሰጥቶታል ፡፡ በመሆኑም በአገር አቀፍ ደረጃ በተካሄደው ውድድር ላይ እንድንሳተፍ በማንኛውም መንገድ እገዛ እና ድጋፍ ላደረጋችሁልን የዩኒቨርሲቲው ማህበረሰብ በሙሉ ልባዊ ምስጋናቸውን አቅርበዋል፡፡

AASTU Hosted 10th Science and Engineering Fair in Collaboration with STEM Synergy May 25, 2025
Addis Ababa Science and Technology University successfully held its 10th Science and Engineering Fair in collaboration with STEM Synergy under the theme “Inculcating Science and Engineering Culture and Promoting Innovation.” The annual event showcased the creativity and innovation of students from AASTU’s STEM Center, highlighting their project-based learning and problem-solving skills. This year’s competition featured eight student-led projects that addressed pressing national challenges in areas such as agriculture, water treatment, transportation, and climate change. These projects were the outcomes of hands-on training and mentorship provided by the STEM Center. The students not only identified real-world problems but also developed practical solutions, demonstrating the effectiveness of STEM education in nurturing future innovators.

Ph.D. Candidate Mohammednur Abdu Successfully Defends His Dissertation May 27, 2025
Mohammednur Abdu, a Ph.D. candidate from the Department of Environmental Engineering at AASTU, has successfully defended his dissertation titled “Synthesis and Characterization of TiO₂-Biochar Composite for Photocatalytic Degradation of Azo Dyes from Textile Wastewater.”
Mohammednur conducted his research under the supervision of Dr. Abebe Worku (Associate Professor) and co-supervision of Dr. Jemal Fito Nure (Assistant Professor).
The research offers a comprehensive framework for designing cost-effective, sustainable photocatalysts and identifies key structure-activity relationships that enhance their performance.
