A Clear Vision
Once, in China, there lived a Dharma teacher named Master Foin. He had a friend named Su Dongpo (1037β1101 AD), a poet with a bad reputation due to his rough and quarrelsome character.
One day, the poet sat down, pretending to be Buddha. He asked the Dharma teacher:
β Who do I look like?
β You look like Buddha, β replied Master Foin.
The poet then said:
β Do you know who you look like? You look like a pile of dung!
This did not disturb the Dharma teacher in the slightest. He kept smiling. Losing courage, the poet asked:
β How come you didnβt get angry?
The monk replied:
β He who has realized the Buddha nature in himself sees the same Buddha nature in everyone. But one who is full of dung sees everyone else as a pile of dung.

The Red Rose πΉ
An American sailor received letters from a woman he had never seen. Her name was Rosa. They corresponded for three years. By reading her letters and replying, he realized that he could no longer live without them. They had fallen in love with each other without even realizing it. πβ€οΈ
When his service ended, they arranged to meet at the Central Station at five o'clock in the evening. She wrote that she would have a red rose in her lapel. πΉ
The sailor wondered: he had never seen a photo of Rosa. He didn't know how old she was, whether she was beautiful or plain, thin or heavy. π€
He arrived at the station, and when the clock struck five, she appeared. A woman with a red rose in her lapel. She was about sixty years old. The sailor could have turned around and left, but he didn't. This woman had written to him all that time while he was at sea, sent him Christmas gifts, and supported him. She didnβt deserve that. So he approached her, extended his hand, and introduced himself. π
The woman told him that he was mistaken. Rosa was standing behind him. He turned around and saw her. She was the same age as him, beautiful. The elderly lady explained that Rosa had asked her to put the flower in her lapel. If the sailor had turned around and left, it would have been the end. But if he had approached the elderly lady, she would have shown him the real Rosa and told him the truth. ππ

Parable of the traveler and three stonemasons π§
One traveler stumbled upon a construction site and saw three stonemasons. He approached the first:
β What are you doing?
β Carrying this heavy stone. Day after day. Work is work.
The traveler approached the second:
β And what are you doing?
β Earning a living. I have a family, children, need to feed them.
And finally, he asked the third:
β And what are you doing?
The third straightened his shoulders and proudly replied:
β I am building a temple.
They all have the same work, but different meaning.
Itβs not what you do that defines you. Itβs why you do it. π

Parable of the cup of patience β³
Once upon a time, there was a sage to whom people came every day with complaints. One spoke of poverty, another of injustice, the third of envy. The sage silently listened to everyone, saying nothing.
One day, the disciple could not bear it any longer:
β Master, why do you never give advice? People come for help!
The sage filled a cup with water to the brim and said:
β Carry it through the whole city and don't spill a single drop.
The disciple returned, not once diverting his attention.
β What did you see on the way? β asked the sage.
β Nothing. I kept all my attention on the cup.
β This is how people are: as long as the cup of their soul is full of worries, they won't hear a single piece of advice. First, you need to empty the excess in order to take in the new.π―
