๐ŸŒŸ How to Stop Being Unhappy ๐ŸŒŸ

The first step towards enjoying life is to stop poisoning it for yourself.
๐ŸŒˆ A happy life is a building with three dimensions: material, interpersonal, and emotional. In other words, to be a happy person, you need to achieve your goals while maintaining a good reputation and relationships with people, without sacrificing your inner harmony. ๐Ÿก

Decide that things are going well for you ๐ŸŒป
It's not that simple. As the famous French philosopher Alain wrote: "One must want to be happy and make efforts towards it. Standing as an impartial observer with the doors wide open, waiting for happiness to enter, will only invite sadness." It's always easier to succumb to unhappinessโ€”it requires less psychological energy. To prolong well-being, on the other hand, takes effort. Generally, people differ in how capable they are of feeling happy, but some factors are common to all humanity: it seems that evolution favors the development of negative emotions, as they increase the chances of survival of the species. ๐Ÿงฌ

Donโ€™t allow yourself to be sad for too long ๐Ÿšซ
Since negative emotions only occur occasionally, are short-lived, and do not disrupt our daily life too much, one might expect them to pass on their own. However, flirting with misery, as was customary among the Romantics of the 19th century, is unsafe, and today psychology is beginning to better understand this risk. ๐Ÿ’”

Savor moments of happiness ๐Ÿ˜Š
The best (and most enjoyable) weapon against unhappiness is to derive as much pleasure as possible from the happy moments that fate gives us. A superb vaccine against feeling miserable is to enjoy happiness, striving to make this feeling stronger, more powerful, and vivid. ๐ŸŽ‰

๐Ÿ’ฐ The Indian in the Bank ๐Ÿ’ฐ

An old Indian walked into the bank and asked for a loan of $500. The bank employee began processing the paperwork.

"What are you going to do with this money?" he asked the Indian.

"I will go to the city to sell the jewelry I made."

"What do you have for collateral?"

"I don't know what 'collateral' is," the Indian said.

"Well, collateral is something of value that can cover the cost of the loan. Do you have a car?"

"Yes - a 1949 pickup truck."

"No, that won't do," the bank employee said. "Maybe you have livestock?"

"Yes, I have a horse."

"How old is it?"

"I don't know, she has no teeth left to determine."

Eventually, the Indian was granted the loan and given $500.

๐Ÿ’ผ A few weeks later, the Indian returned to the bank, pulled out a stack of money. He counted out what was owed to the bank and hid the rest.

"What are you going to do with the rest of the money?" the same employee asked.

"I'll put it in my wigwam," the Indian replied.

"You can make a deposit in our bank."

"I don't know what a 'deposit' is," the Indian replied.

"Well, you give your money to the bank, the bank takes care of it, and when you need the money, you can take it."

The old Indian thought for a moment and asked:

"Does the bank have anything to give me as collateral?"๐Ÿ’ฐ

๐ŸŒพ It's All Food ๐Ÿ

A teacher of the highest level didn't disdain the work of a farmer. He wrote many wise books and teachings. Once a man, having read all this and imagining himself a seeker of the Path, came to him to talk about lofty matters.

"I've read all your books, teacher," said the visitor, "I agree with some and disagree with others. In some of them, I again agree with some parts and don't understand others. Some books I like more, others less. How can this be explained?"

The wise farmer led his guest to a large livestock yard, where there were many different animals and feed for them. There he said:

"I am a peasant, a producer of food. Do you see those apples and carrots? Some like one, others like another. Do you see the cabbage and pumpkin? Some like one, others like another. Do you see these animals? Some people prefer some for riding, others for breeding, and still others for consumption. Someone loves chickens, someone - goats. The concepts of 'like' or 'dislike' cannot be a common denominator. It's all food." ๐ŸŒพ

๐Ÿ”„ How to Start a New Career if You No Longer Enjoy Your Current One ๐ŸŒŸ

Reasons
-Shifting Focus. You discover a new exciting activity that you want to dedicate a large part of your life to. ๐ŸŽฏ
-Workplace Issues. You are not achieving results or finding satisfaction at work. ๐Ÿ˜•
-Achieved Everything Possible. You have done everything you can in your field. ๐Ÿ†

What to Expect When Changing Professions?
-New Acquaintances. Ask about how they spend their days, whether they are satisfied with their profession, and what goals they have. Then, based on the feedback received, conclude: is it really what you dream about? ๐Ÿค
-Safety Net. Sometimes things build up so much that you want to resign immediately and rush into a new field. However, I recommend not giving in to emotions unless you are sure of your financial independence. ๐Ÿ’ผ
-Valuable Experience. Often, we fear changing professions, worrying about the invaluable experience we've accumulated in our area. You'll be surprised, but many skills will be useful, even if it seems like you are starting something completely new. ๐Ÿ’ก

๐Ÿ’ Learn... ๐Ÿ“š

-"You know... We're always arguing... We can't be together, right?"

-"Do you like cherries?"

-"Yes."

-"And do you spit out the pits when you eat them?"

-"Well, yeah."

-"So it is in life... Learn to spit out the pits and still love the cherry." ๐Ÿ’

๐Ÿง  Exercises to Develop Mental Flexibility ๐Ÿ“

If you try some of these exercises, take time to analyze the new experience. Itโ€™s helpful to make notes or keep a journal. An experience that seemed meaningless at first may impress on a second attempt. Repetition adds depth and strength. Sometimes, only repeated practice leads to insights and mastery.

Start Teaching ๐Ÿ“š
A great way to strengthen your "beginner's mind" is to discuss what you know well with people who are completely unfamiliar with it, or even start teaching them. This could be colleagues who are new to the profession or just friends.

A Clean House is a Clear Mind ๐Ÿ
Cleaning your house symbolically frees up space for mental clarity. You also see (literally and metaphorically) how much useless or unused clutter (beliefs, biases) has accumulated. Clearing out the old frees up space for the new.

Be Socrates and Start Doubting ๐Ÿค”
Socrates was famous for his habit of asking questions and his motto "I know that I know nothing." Pick a low-risk situation (not filling out tax forms) and try not to answer questions immediately; pause for a few moments each time to think about the question. Approach each question with genuine ignorance. Treat it like a piece of foodโ€”don't just swallow it; chew it thoroughly.

Play Sherlock Holmes ๐Ÿ”
Choose a familiar placeโ€”your room, the usual route (e.g., from home to work). Turn into Sherlock Holmes investigating a crime scene, or an anthropologist studying the habitat of an unknown tribe. Slowly, carefully look at everything around you. Note textures and details, view everything from different positions, carefully observing.
Engage all your senses. You'll notice a temptation to skip the most familiar items, so assume everything here is new to you. Look at how labels prevent understanding objects. This experiment sharpens the senses and helps develop observational skills.

๐ŸŒŸ Why "No" is a Good Thing ๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿ’ฌ A psychologist I admire once said something truly uplifting to a woman lamenting all she didn't have. "No true friends," she said. "No good salary. No decent car. No nice apartment. No youth left. And no hope of ever having any of it."

๐Ÿค“ The psychologist adjusted his glasses and replied cheerfully: "Of course, you don't have a lot of things, and we could extend that list! No incurable diseases. No million-dollar debts. No responsibility for someone like a sick relative or a senile old man. No hunchback. No disability. There's so much you don't have. Write it all down, and you'll feel better immediately! You'll also realize that not only do you not have these things, but you'll never have them."

๐Ÿ˜Š The woman thought about it, did the math, and smiled.

โœจ So, there are many things we don't haveโ€”and we shouldn't want them! Everything else can be earned, improved, gifted, or simply skipped temporarily. It's all good.

๐ŸŒฟ The most important thing is to be alive and healthy, with your loved ones safe and well. And if there's no bad stuff aroundโ€”well, that's already a good thing! ๐ŸŒฟ

๐Ÿšซ Traits That Will Turn You Into a Loser ๐Ÿšซ

Inconsistency
Successful people move towards their goals step by step. They stick to their ideals, have higher values, and their actions align with their words. They do not change their goals due to minor difficulties but look for ways to overcome them. ๐ŸŽฏ

Love for Gossip
Only outsiders enjoy listening to and spreading gossip. Essentially, it's a defense mechanism that helps ignore the lack of something interesting in one's own life. If you become known as a gossip, people will not trust you, and without trust and friendly connections, success is unattainable. ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ

Chronic Pessimism
Many people see life in dark tones from time to time, but if your glass is always half empty, lacking happiness and joy, people will eventually turn away from you. Such pessimism stifles and paralyzes. If you can't see the beauty in the world, fail to notice the good, or appreciate every day, you are limiting yourself. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

Lack of Ambition
Aiming for nothing, doing no more than required, not making extra efforts are the credos of failures. This harmful "toxic" quality ensures that those who want nothing and just go with the flow are mostly avoided and remain alone. ๐Ÿ›Œ

Habit of Wasting Time on Nonsense
Successful people plan their days meticulously and value every minute. They spend even their free time beneficially. Instead of sitting in front of the TV, they go for a run; instead of scrolling through social media, they learn something new; instead of pointless chatter on the phone, they prepare a healthy dinner. โณ
