🏷 The word 'empath' refers to a person. And a person who is 'an empath' is very good at reading and feeling other people's emotions. Another way to put it - they 'have empathy with other people'. Amongst the clients that I've worked with, having a lot of empathy can be problematic.
Some people become 'flooded', too much empathy. 'Flooded' by other people's emotions very easily. For some people, even just walking through a crowd. If they're real empaths, they pick up the emotional state of those nearby.

People they don't even know. You can imagine this is difficult in your life if you can't turn it off. You can't not do it. And usually people with a lot of empathy also have a lot of care and concern for other people. Empaths often go out of their way for other people and put in lots of effort to help other people. But the idea of a 'dark empath' is quite chilling. Quite scary, in other words. What's meant by 'dark empath'? Well, people who are so-called 'dark empaths' are very good at reading other people's emotions. But they don't use this for good, to be kind, or to have more understanding. No, instead, 'dark empaths' use what they perceive about other people for their own purposes and to manipulate the other person. The verb 'to manipulate' in this context, 'to manipulate someone', means 'to control or influence that person with great skill'.

But in a way that's dishonest and which may exploit or take advantage of them. So in short, a 'dark empath' is someone who reads other people's emotions very well, but who uses that information to 'exploit', or take advantage of that person. That's rather scary and horrible, isn't it?
