A Story: How Bitcoin Saved My Family Lives
Hey guys. BTC now is legal in my country so I can tell my story without fearing for my life.
I live in Syria, in the year 2018, the Assad forces laid a siege to my city, the Syrian pound collapsed completely at the time, all the money we had were worth maybe 10 KG of rice or something.
I was 22, with a family of 6 and extended family of 20 people, all starving under the most inhumane conditions, we ate grass, we ate from the trash, we even ate things that I wouldn't like to mention.
All we had at the time is a golden ring that mom bought with all her savings back in 2010, I was a university student, but I couldn't go. however I was very good software engineer.
My mom sold her ring for 100$ which bought me an acceptable laptop, I started looking for jobs online, for an entire 6 months, all I did is look for a job and study. there was not much to do but that anyways, we were bombed day and night, the streets were almost 24*7 unsafe.
in winter of 2019, I finally found a job. almost a dream came true. it was for an Italian company and the pay was good, in fact, it was amazing 15$ an hour, in a country where you could earn 15$ a month.
My family almost didn't believe it. some told me it was a scam, some had suspension, the pay was too good, it's like going from homeless to super rich in western terms.
but the moment of truth has arrived, the end of month and the guy, an Italian dude named Riccardo, was honest. in fact he said he will give me an extra 200$ because i did a good job.
there was one issue. Syria was deeply sanctioned country, my boss was not able to even make a phone call to Syria, let alone a bank transaction. I cried, it's like i lost something i never had. I had my three younger siblings looking forward to the taste of cooked food for an entire year.
Riccardo however had one solution, Bitcoin. I had no idea what bitcoin is and if i never trusted him, i wouldn't have believed in it. there was still an issue of converting this BTC to real money but the army that laid siege to us was corrupt enough to let me leave and exchange it in another city for a 30% fee (ik, crazy but such are war times..)
From that day, we lived a decent life, I was able to provide food and education for 3 families (mine and my uncles). my sibling got the best education they could get.
in 2021, I started studying bitcoin and taking it seriously, and I had enough cash to last me for years to come, i stopped selling any BTC, I DCA whenever i could, I never traded BTC futures, just simple weekly partial DCA. and now i am a millionaire and alive, because of BTC.
I help BTC through the covid crash, through the pumps and dumps, I find it almost impossible to think about selling BTC, not for 1M, not for 10 (but maybe for 100M, Saylor hit me up :)) ).
Bitcoin has became for me more than a technology, it was the kiss of life that I needed, the last shred of hope me and my family had. it transcends borders and politics, it is the most humane economic concept that we ever came up with. every ounce of weight on my body is alive because of BTC and nothing else.
I hope this post clear out the misconceptions about BTC being an outlet for bad actors, I seen them fist hand in my country, they had rooms full of cash, gold and other stuff. they were supported by countries which issues one of the largest FIAT currencies known :))
it wasn't bad people using BTC, it was the victims.

I sold my Bitcoin and bought a house
Just wanted to brag a little because I’m proud of myself. I’ve been buying bitcoin regularly since 2018 And when it went over 100k I sold it all and put a down payment on a house. My first house. Yesterday was the first night in my new house, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.
