Don’t Panic, Get Tested: Lessons from My STD Experience

I know this is a bit long, sorry! But I hope sharing my story helps someone out there

Guys
I want to share my experience to help others who might be going through the same confusion and anxiety I faced.

I’m currently based in the UAE, but I recently took a vacation and came to Kerala specifically to get tested for STDs. The reason is if tested positive for HIV while still in the UAE, the news might spread among my company’s employees, and eventually reach my family. I wanted to avoid that stress and keep things private until I had clear answers.

This whole situation started because I visited a massage parlor in the UAE. Since then, I have been under enormous tension and stress for months. The fear and uncertainty took a heavy toll on me I even had suicidal thoughts at one point. I tried online consultations, watched countless videos from so-called “HIV experts” on YouTube, and read endless stories online. But none of that helped — it just made me more anxious.

When I started having certain symptoms, I panicked and began searching online. Almost every source especially YouTube and self-proclaimed “HIV experts” pointed toward HIV. Based on what I read and watched, I was convinced I had it. But the reality turned out to be different.

After getting tested, I was diagnosed with HSV (Herpes Simplex Virus) — not HIV. This taught me a very important lesson: do not rely on online information or videos to diagnose yourself. Many symptoms of different STDs can overlap, and only proper testing can give you accurate answers.

Here were my acute symptoms:
• Insomnia (trouble sleeping)
• Red rashes on the skin
• itching
• White coating on the tongue
• lymph node and soreness on neck and groin area
• bloating and Diarrhoea
• Slow or low healing of wounds

After 9months I tested for full STD panel in certified lab and I found out that I had HSV not HIV.

Even now, I still have some ongoing symptoms like a white tongue, stomach issues, and itching, which makes me believe that there could be more going on possibly another infection or imbalance.

That’s why I strongly advise anyone going through similar issues to get a full STD panel, not just HIV testing. Many infections present similar signs, and you might miss the actual cause if you only test for one or two. A full STD panel typically includes testing for:
• HIV
• HSV-1 and HSV-2
• Syphilis
• Gonorrhoea
• Chlamydia
• Hepatitis B & C
• HPV

Stay calm, take control, and prioritize real medical advice over internet speculation. Your health deserves more than guesswork.

Politics in this sub

I don’t really get the point of politics in this sub, especially since one party is way overrepresented while the other is way underrepresented. That doesn’t reflect the political reality of Kerala at all, so idk. I’m personally not on either side, but the political discussions here always circle around just those two parties.

Also a popular discussion forum for Kerala which is a place that is on the tip of everyones tongue in the rest of India specifically for its politics is going to lead to people from all over India coming to the sub and giving their 2 cents as if their from Kerala.

On top of that, when its politics it’s basically the same people posting over and over, and it’s turned into this weird turf war. Both sides just dump articles they clearly want to “influence” people with, or spam rage bait images with titles pretending to be oblivious. which if ur doing that, that is incredibly terminally online and dumb It cell behaviour, especially with the first party’s supporters. Its also even wiered when people post articles to feed the same 5 people who want to write "islamisation of kerala" under every post like theyve pasted it into their clipboard or the opposite side calling everyone sanghis and chaddhis. There are also other kerala specific subreddits for this so I dont get it.

And also Indian Reddit in general is probably one of the worst parts of Reddit so there’s this heavy feathering effect where a very particular crowd from there just spills into here. Its strange, Im going onto this sub less and less.

Scam in the name of business

I want to share this because I’ve personally seen people around me getting trapped in QNET. On the surface, they present it as a “business opportunity,” but in reality, the only way to make money is by recruiting others. There’s almost no real earning from products.

They use something called a “hot sign-up” where they push you to sign up your closest friends or family first. They won’t give you any time to think – they’ll take you to “welcome camps,” create hype, and immediately pressure you to invest. Once you’re in, the only way to survive is by pulling more people in.

Right now, I see a lot of this happening in South India – (TEAM OCEAN ) Bangalore, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra, Mumbai, etc. The main targets are undergraduates, freshers, influencers, and even models. They show you that “successful people” have joined, so you feel like you’re missing out if you don’t.

Many I know have invested huge sums, even traveled abroad (Malaysia is common for their training programs), only to come back and get stuck in the same cycle of recruiting again and again. In the end, most of them lose money, friendships, and peace of mind.

Even if QNET claims to be “legal,” the way it works is nothing less than a scam. Please be careful. Don’t let them pressure you or your loved ones into this trap.

Why are some kerala muslims defending gender segregation claiming we nonmuslim men are mad as we can't mingle with muslim women? As if they don't mingle with and love and marry nonmuslim women
