Visiting kerala for study as a north indian student.

Hello I'm from Uttar Pradesh and a neet aspirant , my rank is in the range so that I'm getting a govt BAMS college in Kerala. Since Ive already taken 3 drops for neet preparation , taking admission is the best I can do. So please enlighten me about do's and don'ts before going to Kerala. Since I'm going to stay quite long there so how can I adjust ? Will language be a barrier for daily communication amongst local area. I can speak English. Thanks.

This has to stop. What can we do?

Processions on public roads has to stop. I don’t care which religion or which political party, public roads should not be used for this shit. Got stuck in traffic for 3 hrs yesterday. It almost felt like the organisers had an agenda of creating a traffic block. They weren’t letting the vehicles move while they clearly had space. It’s nice to see “mathasouhardam” reels but people have places to be and things to do. I assume these type of processions have started decades ago but things have changed and number of vehicles has increased. I think we should do something about this. I mean how are we different than northies when we are doing the same shit like them.

Best time to visit kerala?

Hiii, I'm from Sweden and me and a couple of my girl friends were planning a trip around the holidays and were planning a south India and Sri Lanka kinda thing.

We have a few Indian students here and they suggested kerala is a worthwhile trip and I just wanted to ask if its a good time to travel around then and also some suggestions would be nice on what to do and especially what not to do, we don't want to do anything that offends anyone ofc :D

What are your thoughts about starting an agri-business venture in Palakkad in light of the water scarcity in the region?

Hi Kerala,

I didn’t get much of a response in the Palakkad sub so bringing this to the wider sub.

I am evaluating a couple of Agri-business ventures located in Palakkad, one of them being a mushroom farm.

One of my concerns is around water availability to run such a venture. I have looked at official data and the underground water table is not in a good condition, especially in Chittur and Malampuzha areas. I have also heard horror stories of digging 7 or 8 borewells, digging 1000 feet and not finding water, land that is unsold because it just doesn’t have much water etc.

I know the situation has improved in last 3-4 years because of good monsoons but monsoons can easily fail in the coming years and turn the area dry again.

Are there any agri-business entrepreneurs on this sub who could shed some light on water scarcity problems and how to solve for it? I hear a lot about making Palakkad an industrial hub, but I am wondering how it would be possible without adequate water.
