What's the best stand-alone game to never receive any sequels, prequels, or spin-offs?

Was thinking about how standard it is for every reasonably successful game to get a sequel or at least a spin-off. Even a modern classic like Bloodborne has people expecting there will be a sequel at some point because it would be weird not to get one.

So, what game actually was a stand-alone hit that never got turned into a franchise? Obviously we can ignore games released in the last few years that haven't had the opportunity yet.

Which feature of a game was so terrible that whoever made it should be banned from ever owning an electronic device again?

Those game features that a weirdly masochistic segment of the fandom love despite their awfulness.

The Game Awards could actually be really cool if they made awards that were more specific to gaming

Of course, game of the year - just like best picture at the Oscars - will always be the big one. But if you look at the Oscars, the next four most attention-grabbing awards are all for the people playing the roles - which is unsurprising because the actors and the characters they play bring the most human interest to the table. Gaming (on the surface) doesn't have an equivalent to those so it feels like only game of the year is of any real interest to anyone and then the rest of the awards are equivalent to all the Oscars' various technical categories.

However, each year gaming does offer up similarly interesting things if you look at the industry from the perspective of players. Things like best playable character, best new character or best villain would, I feel, drum up a lot more attention and interest than stuff like best sports/racing game. Also, something like best new world with the contenders being literally the name of the city / planet / galaxy a game is set in instead of the name of the game, or something like best single level / stage - or even more specific, best side-quest - would, to me at least, be something pretty intriguing and add more personality to proceedings.

Particularly character based awards I could see creating a lot of interest and debate with people really hoping their favourite wins, and it would have the side benefit that whoever it is portraying the character would likely get far more attention than anyone currently does for winning best performance.

Games for an 11 year old girl?

So for Christmas, my bf is building his daughter a pc, and I’d like to buy a handful of games for her to have ready to go. She has a Switch, and I know she’s played a lot of Animal Crossing and been SUPER into Minecraft lately. So the first two games that came to mind were Palworld and Stardew Valley. I feel like she also might really enjoy Infinity Nikki cuz she likes dress up games, but I’ve heard there’s a lot of micro transactions, so I’m not sure about that one even though it’s free.

I know she also really likes Mario Kart, but I’m not sure if there are any games like that on PC. Beyond that, I know she’s enjoyed some party games like Fall Guys.

If any of you could give me any recommendations based on these games or even just general recommendations that an 11 year old girl might like, I’d really appreciate it!
