Gamers from the physical-copy-only-era, have you ever queued up outside a store for a game's launch?

GTA San Andreas was my first. I remember going to the town's shopping centre at around 11pm and queueing up outside Virgin Megastores for it's launch at midnight. IIRC it came with a bandana and a cool poster. I couldn't tell you what time I played that game until when I got home. I probably didn't sleep much though!

SF4 was a cool one. Game put on a mini tournament in their store where the winner would get a copy of it before the official launch time. I think sign-up was pretty cheap (maybe £5) and I ended up winning the whole thing! (I played as Sagat.) The contest finished around 10pm so I got myself a copy of the game a couple of hours before everyone else did and felt like an absolute king! Played that until the early hours of the morning too.

What game lowkey traumatized you as a kid?

For me, it was Resident Evil on PS1.

The first time those dogs jumped through the window, I nearly threw the controller across the room.

Even years later, I can still feel that jump scare.

Curious, what game scarred you when you were younger?

Thank you.

Just started Clair Obscur Expedition 33....

No spoilers here.

I just completed the prologue. What an insanely epic start to a game. Genuinely fucking incredible. I was shook. The music, the graphics, the voice acting and the cinematic are beautiful.

I'm only upset I took so darn long to start playing it.

Must move my PC to my home audio setup before continuing. The music is perfect for it.

You are stuck in a house for a year without internet. You got a PC with 3 games.Which 3 would you pick?

Mods are also included. I would pick Witcher 3, GTA San Andreas and Mass Effect LE.

As you get older are you finding games hold your attention less?

as time goes on, and I get older, it’s harder for games to capture my attention for a long period of time.

Like donkey Kong bananza, I’m about 10 hours in, and I just simply don’t want to play it anymore,

Objectively, it’s an incredible game, it runs well, it’s fun, there’s lot to do and explore,

But I just, don’t want to play it again. I feel like it’s a chore, and I’ve already seen the core gameplay loop.

How has your gaming changed as you’ve gotten older?
