Have felt more motivated to finish games in the last year than I have in decades. Something changed...

After so many years, I'm finally gacha-free!

No long post needed. Just wanted to share the news with people who would understand the struggle.

I've been playing multiple gacha games for years and years. It was exhausting and unrewarding. But I can proudly say now that I finally walked away from the endless daily grind, the predatory monetization, and the constant feeling that my collection was never good enough.

The rush of a "good pull" never justified the feeling of getting absolutely nothing after spending hours/money. I'm excited to put that time and money back into games that actually respect the player's wallet and time.

Skyrim Grandma Shirley Curry says she's retiring from playing/uploading Skyrim: "This has come to this because I'll soon be 90 years old. Every time I come up with a new idea of how to play a story in Skyrim… I may make one or two or three with a new character and then I'm just bored again."

It's kinda crazy how quickly cross-play became normalized

I remember, what 5 or 6 years ago when this feature of being able to play with gamers from any available platform despite the different companies behind each device, started getting ushered in and what a big deal it was, now though, it's just expected and we think so little of it. Seems so crazy now that it wasn't always a thing in retrospect.

What was the scariest section of a game that was otherwise a non-horror title?

Was inspired by the previous thread about the scariest section in a game. I posted about Nine Sols which has a ton of unexpectedly terrifying sections, but I wouldn’t call it a horror game. Ravenholm is a famous one, too. Made me curious what other games have sections like that where it suddenly switches genres, lol.

What are yours?
