✍🏼 **Pre-Match Ramblings**

Last season West Ham came to the Emirates and left with 3 points. This 3 points came after 32% possession, being outshot 5:20, making 241 accurate passes compared to 574 for Arsenal, and a lower xG. Arsenal dominated in every sense of the game but failed to come out with 3 points. Those stats and that result really sums up our issues last season: making the most of dominance and control. Let's not even mention the Lewis Skelly red card.

This season we are showing some signs of life when it comes to overcoming these issues. Yes we still play patient football, Arteta as a coach seems to be more accepting of throwing the kitchen sink at an opponent. He made half time changes against Man City after realising he got the lineup wrong, he took a defender off for an attacker against Newcastle whilst chasing the lead, and didn't settle for the draw at SJP.

West Ham under Graham Potter were *really* bad this season, but now they have a completely different style of play to adapt to under Nuno. Their new coach was one of the standout coaches last season, bringing Nottingham Forest to European competition against anyone's prediction. He was then sacked for no reason, and look how that's going for Forest. Anyway, I think this game might be a bit soon for West Ham to get anything out of.

What are some of Arsenal’s less flattering forgotten stories that younger fans might not know about?

I am too young to watch Patrick Vieira in his prime. Naturally, I thought he was a legend and leader on and off the pitch. But recently, someone told me that Viera at the time pretty much annoyed the fanbase every summer complaining about wanting to leave to a better team. That and how good Fabregas was contributed to the fans not feeling so fussed about his departure. I was like wow. I didn’t know that.

Do older fans here maybe have other facts about our club that are not so flattering and have probably gotten buried in history overtime?

Off the top of my head, I am thinking about something like Pires clashing with our legend David O’Leary who was Leeds manager at the time or the Highbury being called the Library (which may not be that unknown). Also Gus Caesar?
