Etiquette when bumping into famous footballers

I'm an non-European gooner and whilst on my way back to the hotel in Lisbon on our European vacation, I walked past Sol Campbell and Gilberto Silva. I made eye contact with Sol Campbell and slightly nodded and he smiled back at me. I was so star struck and at the same time did not want to disturb the pair of them (it was almost midnight and they're outside their hotel I presume) and so I did not ask for a photo.

Thinking back I should've (should I have?) asked for a photo and probably asked them how much they fancy Arsenal winning it this year
