Horrifying experience at Bindhu Theatre, Thrissur — how is this even allowed?

Hey everyone,

I want to share a deeply disturbing experience I had recently at Bindhu Theatre in Thrissur, mainly to warn others and ask how this is still allowed to happen openly.

A group of us friends went there after seeing posters for Billa. At first, everything seemed normal. There was a decent crowd, and we were happy to catch a movie in a lively environment. But within a short time, things got seriously uncomfortable.

People were walking around inside the theatre even after the movie started, which we thought might be staff checking for alcohol or something.

Then, some of these people started touching us — not accidental, but clearly inappropriate.

The theatre was in terrible condition — no lights, poor ventilation, and almost zero visibility.

A couple of guys behind us began making strange noises. When we turned around to ask what was happening, they quietly left without a word.

We decided to leave due to how shady it felt, and what we saw next was shocking.

There were multiple men openly engaging in sexual activities inside the theatre — ranging in age from 20s to 60s. We’re talking about actual sex acts happening during the film, right there in the hall. Some people were wearing masks, others were just casually walking around watching. It felt like we had accidentally walked into something we were absolutely not supposed to see.

When we went to complain to the theatre management, they brushed it off and even implied that “this is what people come here for.”

We later learned there are Facebook groups and forums that coordinate meetups for this kind of activity specifically at this theatre. So this isn't a one-off situation — it seems to be a regular, organized thing happening in a public cinema in the middle of Thrissur.

Let me be clear: This post isn’t about targeting anyone’s sexuality. This is about public decency, safety, and legality. What’s happening here is not just illegal, but incredibly unsafe — imagine if a family or minors unknowingly walked into this?

Has anyone else experienced something like this?

How is this theatre still allowed to operate like this in broad daylight, in a city like Thrissur?

This place needs serious investigation. If you care about public safety, please avoid Bindhu Theatre and help spread the word.
