Advise regarding trip to varkala, munnar and kochi

Hey guys,

We(2 couples), are planning to visit those places. And we are coming to Kerala by train. After that we are not sure how to travel inside kerala to reach those places

Should we take rental cars?

Should we use private travels?

Should we use public transport?

I heard they provide rent bikes/scooties in varkala and munnar. But I'm wondering which one is comfortable! to rent a car for whole trip? or renting bikes where ever we go!

But second option seems little uncomfortable, cause we have to carry luggage wherever we go and sort out the travel timings if it is by public transport.

If guys have any idea... Please help me out here.

And main thing is, if car rental is an option we will be renting it out in kochi and dropping it off in kollam( this is where we are going back by train)

Any advices(not just limited to transportation) are welcome.

How will be life in Kerala for next 30 years

If I come to live in Kerala suppose for next 30 years on a central Govt job from Maharashtra, what would be up and downside?
I'm ready to learn Malyalam (infact I've already started by watching films and picking words)
I live in pune now, I have visited Kerala once in 2013.
Condition of Maharashtra as of now is very difficult to live. I love peace and nature which is rare considering traffic , pollution , industries.
I don't mind earning 10-15k less if living a peaceful life.
As a insider what would you guys suggest.

I'm even considering to try my luck with North East.
My preference would be Kerala > NE >Maharashtra (non metro).

An accident in Wayanad changed my whole perspective on people

I want to share something that happened recently. I was in Wayanad as a tourist, and just a day before we were supposed to leave for Bangalore, we met with an accident. We were hit from behind by another scooter — completely their fault — and to our shock, drugs were found in their pockets too.

In that moment, everything felt overwhelming. We were in a different state, didn’t know the language, had a bus to catch, and my friend was injured. Honestly, I felt stuck and helpless.

But what happened next restored my faith in people.

I had posted about the incident on this sub, and a lawyer here reached out. I still can’t believe how kind and patient he was. He guided us through every step, spoke to the police, the opposite party, and even the Royal Brothers rental guys because of the language gap. He kept checking on us and made sure we understood everything. His support felt like having a guardian in an unfamiliar place.

Then there were the Kerala Police. I’ve travelled to many places, but I’ve never seen such genuine, corruption-free, and empathetic officers. They treated us with so much respect, explained our options calmly, and even prioritized helping us finish everything quickly because we had a bus to catch. They didn’t make us feel like outsiders for even a moment. I genuinely felt safe.

And the Royal Brothers staff… I don’t even know how to thank them. My friend had a foot injury and couldn’t walk, so their representative actually drove us 12 km to the bus stand in his own car. Who does that for strangers these days? That gesture alone stayed with me.

Yes, our trip got ruined. Yes, the situation was stressful. But the people we met — the lawyer, the police officers, the rental guy — they made us feel cared for when we were at our lowest. I came back with a deeper appreciation for humanity.

This experience taught me that kindness is real. People do step up. And we should all try to be that helping hand for someone, because even a small action can mean the world in a difficult moment.
