Incredible revelations from Kyle MacLachlan at the BFI

Wonderful article from James Cooray Smith about the incredible sellout show at the BFI

https://twinpeaksblog.com/2025/09/08/recap-from-bfi-screening-of-twin-peaks-pilot-with-kyle-maclachlan/

But the highlight and the bit I wanted to talk to you all about is Kyle’s claim that when they were shooting the pilot, there was the idea that Agent Cooper wasn’t a real FBI agent. That he was some kind of madman or eccentric. That either the real agent Cooper was “dead in a ditch” somewhere or that the FBI weren’t even really investigating it

Obviously they didn’t go down this road, but what a fascinating road not taken.

I think the reason Ben Horne is such a fan favourite in spite of being an unforgivably evil scumbag is the fact that he's one of the only villainous characters in the series who seems like their having fun being a bastard.

Doesn't hurt to be as handsome as he is, either.

Like, Catherine is always pissed off, Leo always seems like he'd rather be doing anything else, Evil Coop is always completely stone faced and unemotional, Richard is well... Richard, even BOB, who's supposedly out for fun, is always screaming, crying or scaring the shit out of you.

Compare that to Ben, who seems to utterly relish in his villainy, and can't help but smile every time he's done something devious. His "devil may care" charm and sly casualness just make him so fun to watch every time he's on screen.

First time viewer - is it okay to feel overwhelmed with the amount of characters to keep track of?

Finish season one today. First time viewer in my 30s. I really enjoyed season. I feel so nostalgic watching a shoe from the early 90s. It’s not as creepy as I thought it would be.

But my goodness, I’m keeping track of so many characters and I feel overwhelmed and stress because some of these characters look alike and I get them all confused .

Is season two easier to follow or does it stay the same?

Did Rob Zombie explain the white horse?

Last night I watched Rob Zombie’s Halloween II (completing the franchise) and the movie opens with the following quote:

“WHITE HORSE - Linked to instinct, purity and the drive of the physical body to release powerful and emotional forces, like rage with ensuing chaos and destruction. - excerpt from The Subconscious Psychosis of Dreams”.

It seems like the quote and reference were made up by Zombie for the movie, but it immediately made me think of Twin Peaks. Is this what the White Horse represents?

I started going through the different instances where the white horse appears, an obvious one being when Sarah Palmer sees it in Lonely Souls which is followed by Leland/Bob killing Maddie…rage with ensuing chaos and destruction???

I didn’t think too hard on this one, but the notion that Rob Zombie stumbled upon an explanation to a Twin Peaks mystery made me laugh 😂

Do you think this definition fits?
