Telegram continues to gain popularity in Europe
The first time I see such an ad for a Telegram bot in the EU

The other day I took this photo in the Autogrill cafe on the A22 highway (one of my favorite routes in Europe, it goes from Italy to Austria).

The banner stands right at the entrance of the cafe. I have to say that the Autogrill chain of cafe-restaurants is the most prominent local brand in its sector.

Telegram may be removed from app stores in Brazil

Brazil's Federal Prosecutor's Office addressed a letter to Apple and Google. In it, the authorities asked to remove the Telegram app from Brazilian App Store and Google Play.

Telegram has been a subject of some hot discussions in the Brazilian government lately. High-ranking officials suspect that the messenger is used to send disinformation and conspiracy theories than interfere in the electoral process.

Telegram, unlike other platforms like Twitter and WhatsApp, still has no representatives in Brazil. Authorities have made unsuccessful attempts to contact the company's headquarters to discuss measures the messenger could take "to ensure the security of this year's upcoming presidential elections".

Now:
Telegram provides free unlimited cloud storage for chats and media.

Recall that Telegram is working on a premium subscription, which will appear in the upcoming updates.

Since the day Telegram was launched almost 9 years ago, we've been giving our users more features and resources than any other messaging app. A free app as powerful as Telegram was revolutionary in 2013 and is still unprecedented in 2022. To this day, our limits on chats, media and file uploads are unrivaled.

And yet, many have been asking us to raise the current limits even further, so we looked into ways to let you go beyond what is already crazy. The problem here is that if we were to remove all limits for everyone, our server and traffic costs would have become unmanageable, so the party would be unfortunately over for everyone.

After giving it some thought, we realized that the only way to let our most demanding fans get more while keeping our existing features free is to make those raised limits a paid option. That's why this month we will introduce Telegram Premium, a subscription plan that allows anyone to acquire additional features, speed and resources. It will also allow users to support Telegram and join the club that receives new features first.

Telegram revokes inactive names

In the last couple of days, Telegram has revoked the public addresses of hundreds of public chats without warning their owners.

In the most of the cases, the affected chats where those which had no content, or no content for over a year.

A close source to Telegram reported that this is a common practice, and that it won't be possible to reoccupy the revoked addresses for a while.

Furthermore, according to the same source, there are plans to reform the public usernames system.
