🇸🇳 Senegal launches Africa's first EV bus network

The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, which hit the streets of capital Dakar and its suburbs on Wednesday, aims to revolutionize transportation in the traffic-choked metropolis. As the only BRT system in Africa with EV buses, it features dedicated lanes running throughout the city.

The network is being implemented in phases, with plans to extend it along 18 km of lanes and serve 300,000 passengers daily. Currently, only 14 out of 25 stations are operational. Unfortunately, the BRT's infrastructure sustained significant damage during recent political unrest, but efforts are underway to restore its facilities.

The university had declared the action a "violent protest" after up to 300 protestors had swarmed the hall, adjacent to an encampment that had sprung up last month.

Chancellor Howard Gillman said attempts to move the action to an "appropriate and non-disruptive" alternative location had failed.

Elon Musk’s mass firings of Tesla Supercharger staff revealed - Reuters

The day before Elon Musk fired virtually all of Tesla’s electric-vehicle charging division last month, they had high hopes as charging chief Rebecca Tinucci had cut between 15% and 20% of staffers two weeks earlier. Musk was supposed to affirm plans for a massive charging-network.

The EV-charging business requires substantial upfront investment, and analysts have often viewed it as unprofitable. But Tesla’s network had been profitable.

This was all Musk’s ego…
