Extinction Rebellion (XR) has said it will return to the streets of London from August 23rd, with the aim of holding fort at many as EIGHT sites. (The Times)
The City will be targeted to disrupt financial institutions, but other demonstrations will be in areas picked to cause significant disruption to the public – with an initial 2-weeks scheduled for protests, according to a spox for the activists.
XR brought London to a standstill 2 years ago, with encampments and roadblocks costing £37mn to police – the group claim this year’s disruption is to get people talking before the Cop26 climate conference in Glasgow this November.
