I used to tell my students to be careful with TRUE and YES or FALSE and NO. I was afraid that they would lose points for not following the instructions. However, in November 2022, a seminar was conducted by IDP experts, and we gave them this question. The experts said that answer sheets are checked by two examiners, who do not penalize a candidate for accidentally writing Yes instead of True.
In short, we may become too emotional during exams and, as a result, make such mistakes. Thankfully, IELTS examiners take it into account and accept any variant of the correct answer.
