Shega was honored to participate, with our 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐄𝐎, 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐡 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐟𝐚𝐲𝐞, joining 𝐀𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐦 𝐓𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐡𝐮𝐧 (CEO, Kacha) on a panel titled “Why Ethiopia? Why now?”

The discussion explored Ethiopia’s growing startup ecosystem, emerging investment opportunities, and key challenges across sectors like fintech, media, and infrastructure. The consensus was clear: Ethiopia presents a unique opportunity for innovation and growth.

" Our COO, 𝐌𝐞𝐥𝐤𝐚 𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐚, joined a panel discussion on 𝐀𝐈 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 . He highlighted that while Africa currently accounts for only 𝟐.𝟓% 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐈 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭, its potential is immense.

Melka emphasized the critical role of open data partnerships in enhancing data collection, processing, analysis, and monetization. He also noted that despite the growing number of AI applications across Africa, limited funding for AI startups is resulting in underutilized talent.

Additionally, our COO underscored the importance of developing new skills, such as prompt engineering and domain-specific knowledge across various sectors, to ensure AI significantly boosts Africa's GDP. #DigitalTransformation #AIStrategies

This week, we are in Kigali, Rwanda, participating in the Mastercard Foundation’s Inclusion Planning and Mainstreaming Workshop for the Centre for Innovative Teaching & Learning partners from February 25-27, 2025.

The workshop focused on strategies for integrating inclusion into digital learning, covering key topics such as Young Women-Centered Design (YWCD), inclusion of persons with disabilities and refugees, safeguarding, and government engagement.

Shega engaged with fellow partners from other countries to explore practical ways to enhance inclusivity in its EdTech Mondays Radio Show. We remain committed to fostering equal opportunities in education and supporting innovation in EdTech.
