Notes from an artist in Chile
After five days in Santiago, I finally started working on my painting, feeling the thrill of discovery. Taking acrylic in my hands for the first time, I limited myself to a size of 55x80 centimeters. At this time, Lorca is busy creating a huge three-meter canvas, and I carefully record his every movement.
It feels like I am painting on both a large and a small canvas at the same time. Acrylic requires fast work: there is no room for spreads, every touch stays on the canvas. It's a lot of experimentation, from pearlescent shades to Golden texture pastes, where each layer is a play with the material.
A very interesting experience, trying to paint a picture while I'm in Chile to leave with a memory captured in these colorful prints.

The most valuable secret of his craftsmanship he gave me was, "Never give up on your paintings, you owe it to yourself to see them through. Always. Never give up."
I promised, and now the words "never give up, never give up"

As I do battle with the canvas, the loudest thoughts in my head sound like they're from a real nightmare: "I can't paint, why did I take on such an impossible task? It's still not going to turn out the way I envisioned. There's never enough time, I won't make it. I can't mix colors, I don't know how to maintain volume - everything seems so messy and clumsy. I have tons of other things to do, the painting can wait, now is not the time for it."
But then... Then the body is already painted, the collarbone is in place, and the fish is so alive, like it's crashing in the water.
The mind calms down when the work has already begun, when the first strokes are laid on the canvas, when words of encouragement ring in my ears: "You're doing great, don't give up, you're learning so fast."
Support is what makes me seemingly talented. I am not talented, I am loved. Loved by my friends, my family, my husband, my coworkers.
In Chile, two paintings were born in 24 days — one on me, one by me.

Guier, I call him that, and sometimes "mi tuto", my cozy blanket against the cold, or "I am the painting and you are the artist", or maestro of beautiful dreams.
Flying on an airplane back to my life, I wonder if life always belongs to us? Sometimes it feels like I've learned to move through multiverse. And art is my portal to these worlds.

It wasn't that long ago that Prigozhin led his troops into Moscow, and before that the world experienced a covid and a war. The speed of life seems to change even the most fundamental truths within a week. The difficulty of the modern world is that it is impossible to plan meaningfully for even a year ahead, let alone twenty years, which seems to be the thickest fog into which it is impossible and unnecessary to look.
Alexey has broken the barrier of fifteen years. Over the years he has been our partner, our friend, our enemy. He was a constant participant in our conversations and emotions, a builder of narrative. His death marks the end of the last link with childhood, with the hopeful tenth years, but it also marks the beginning of a new era, full of a fierce need to avenge the unbearable pain caused by the shattered lives of an entire generation.
In this context, he is not just a man; he is an idea. This death, which he may have planned himself by attacking or provoking the prison staff, is a final political act, an invitation for us to take advantage of. His death, like the political act of self-immolation of journalist Slavina, was the most powerful blow he was capable of.
Now the main focus is on Yulia and how she will dispose of the most important political capital tragically inherited from her husband.
