In May, we sought public feedback on an environmental study for a land parcel in Bukit Batok, currently used by the HomeTeamNS Adventure Centre for recreational activities. The study will guide us in developing new homes in the west region of Singapore sensitively and sustainably. Thank you to everyone who shared their feedback with us.

Having considered the study findings and feedback received, we will adopt the following key measures:
🌿Retain a 0.48ha area within the site to serve as an ecological stepping stone for fauna to move between Tengah Forest and the wider Bukit Batok Nature Corridor
🌿Introduce ecological stepping stones connected by green links for animals that fly to access the nearby Bukit Gombak Park
🌿Provide 45% green cover within the new housing developments, integrating native plants to support biodiversity such as butterflies and birds, rain gardens to cleanse surface run-off, canopy trees to mitigate heat, and precinct greenery and community gardens
🌿 Implement an Environmental Monitoring and Management Plan to mitigate and manage potential environmental impact arising from development works.
As leases expire on brownfield sites like this, agencies will review their purposes to meet different needs in land-scarce Singapore.
