It is a fact mowing improves your land. I found this out without knowing anything about anything. The last place we lived was nothing but old cow pasture that hadn't been touched in years. Within about three years, between mowing and running goats, the grass looked like a lush green carpet. Same thing on the property we have now. It's taking longer here, but it's getting there. I see cattle on pasture full of weeds and brushy stuff they won't eat and think if they would just mow it a couple of times a year, they could change those conditions drastically. We also started spreading out hay all over, especially in more bare spots and the grass is coming in well.

Bush hogging a pasture 4 times a year before each season's weeds go to seed will eliminate weeds in less than 4 years... that's how I've rid my pastures of buttercup, Vetch, and thistles.

The pokeberry is growing in a hard clay area where there is no grass... that's why it's being bush hogged this year.
