New Version Of Russia’s UMPK Bomb Kit Makes First Appearance

On October 21, a photo showing a completely new version of Russia’s UMPK [Russian: УМПК; Унифицированный модуль планирования и коррекции, Unified gliding and correction module] kit surfaced online.

Unlike the original UMPK kit which featured a basic design centered around a single piece with both the wings and control fins that can be clipped in on to any Soviet-era bomb weighing 500 kg or less, the new kit includes two separate wings and control fins sections specifically designed to fit into newer FAB-500-series bombs.

Another Mysterious Airstrip Appeared On Yemeni Island Close To Houthi Areas

A 2,000-meter airstrip is being built on Zuqar Island in the Red Sea off the coast of Yemen, The Associated Press reported on October 20, citing satellite images from Planet Labs PBC.

Zuqar Island lies between the coasts of the Yemeni province of al-Hodeidah, which is controlled by the Houthis (Ansar Allah), and Eritrea, close to the Bab-el-Mandeb strait which connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden.

Russian Army Advances Deep In Kupyansk And Other Parts Of Kharkiv (Videos)

On October 21, the Russian military advanced in several areas in the Kharkiv direction, most notably in the city of Kupyansk, despite facing resistance from Kiev forces.

The Sever [North] Group of Forces expanded its control in Vovchansk, capturing new territories to the west of the settlement. Russian troops reached Synelnykove, with preliminary reports indicating that the settlement was being stormed.

Moving more to the south in Kharkiv, the Zapad [West] Group of Forces made additional gains in Kupyansk. Russian troops advanced some one kilometer into the southern part of the city, reaching the Yubileyny neighborhood and capturing some high-rise buildings there.

Continued Exchange Of Strikes Against A Backdrop Of Diplomatic Deadlock

On October 20-21, the Russian armed forces carried out massive strikes on Ukrainian military and critical infrastructure objects. The attacks targeted energy and transportation hubs supporting the AFU, warehouses housing strike drones, and temporary deployment points for Ukrainian units and foreign mercenaries.
