Suffer not

Let me try to explain suffering though driving parallels. In classical physics, to move in a certain direction, you need both force and friction. If you have just one of those, you can't move forward. Force here, in spiritual terms can be called subtle guidance from god and/or personal effort(which too comes from that guidance), and friction could be called suffering. Without suffering, you can't learn. When you ask the most high for something, you are provided with both the spirit to overcome and the challenge, suffering, so you can move forward.

Saint Pelagia the Penitent

Pelagia was born to pagan parents in 5th century Antioch. Endowed with great beauty, she used this to the destruction of her own soul and those of others, becoming very wealthy by prostitution.
