Regarding the (non) controversy of President Trump not putting his hand on the Bibles that were held by Melania (one was his own and the other was President Lincoln’s Bible), here’s some historical perspective:
Several U.S. Presidents did not use a Bible when taking the oath of office:
- John Quincy Adams
used a book of law, symbolizing his commitment to the Constitution.
- Theodore Roosevelt
did not use a Bible when he was sworn in after the assassination of William McKinley.
-Calvin Coolidge
was sworn in by his father, who was a justice of the peace, and did not use a Bible.
- Lyndon B. Johnson
used a Catholic missal instead of a Bible when he was sworn in on Air Force One after John F. Kennedy's assassination.
- Franklin Pierce
affirmed his oath on a law book rather than a Bible, which was a notable deviation from tradition.
In total, 5 U.S. Presidents are documented to have not used a Bible for their oath of office.

ICE has arrested 308 illegal immigrants on January 21, 2025, and an additional 152 within the next 9 hours leading up to 9 AM on January 22, 2025, totaling 460 arrests.
Since January 21 and this morning, approximately 960 illegal immigrants have been arrested and scheduled for deportation.
Much more work to be done, but a good start.
