In a fresh twist to how Nigerians pay for USSD banking, the Nigerian Communications Commission has directed that charges be deducted directly from mobile airtime, not bank accounts.

Starting June 3, 2025, banks like UBA have begun notifying customers of the shift, which aligns with the NCC’s new End-User Billing model.
