Media Hi all,
I’m setting up a dual-monitor workspace for coding and data analysis on a 140×80 cm (55.1"×31.5") sit/stand desk. I plan to use a dual monitor arm with a centered main screen and a secondary screen in vertical on the side. I’m not fixed on sizes or specs and would really like your recommendations based on what has worked for you. I’m considering 27", 32", or 34" for the main display. For the side display I was thinking 24" vertical and flat, but I’m open to going bigger if that tends to work better. Viewing distance is roughly 70 cm (27.6"). Questions where I’d love your experience: What screen sizes would you recommend? 16:9 vs 21:9 for the main screen (32"/34"). If you moved from one to the other, which felt better for coding and data work? 1440p vs 4K at these sizes. Is 4K a clear upgrade for productivity, or is 1440p plenty in practice? Curved vs flat for 32"/34". Helpful or distracting for reading code for hours? Mixing resolutions between the main and the vertical side. Any issues with scaling or text sharpness? Preferred sizes for a vertical side monitor if you do a lot of logs, docs, terminal and Slack. I’ll likely buy second-hand if I can find some good deals, so I’m flexible on models. I mainly want a setup that is comfortable for long sessions and efficient for coding, notebooks, etc. Thanks for any concrete setups and what you would change if you did it again. (Note: the first image is AI generated. It’s just to show roughly how the monitor setup could look. The decor and styling are not something I’ve chosen yet and just something ChatGPT generated) submitted by /u/TheTerribleCoconut to r/workstations

My studying setup! Laptop: Panasonic Let's Note SZ6. It's a decent laptop with retro y2k aesthetic. This thing has a 7th Gen Core i5, 8GB of RAM, pretty lightweight (~800g). I use it for web browsing, reading documents, coding, and playing visual novels. Keyboard: idk, just a 65% chinese kit with random keycaps set. I use MMD Princess V2 Tactile switches for this keyboard and they are way too noisy (and also joy to type on). Earphones: Truthear Zero:RED with Moondrop SSR cable. It has balanced sounding and decent passive noise isolation. I mostly use it for background white noise and blocking out distractions. submitted by /u/stdrice to r/Workspaces

I work from home a decent amount—willing to spend a bit to improve my monitor setup. Could use some help on this, if anyone can lend some advice. I use a dual computer setup: laptop for work, desktop for personal use. Laptop has a thunderbolt port. Desktop has a usb 3.1 port. My current set up is dual dell 24’ p2422h monitors. I connect up to my laptop with hdmi ports and my pc separately. Have a usb switch for peripherals. Looking to replace with 27’ monitors with a monitor arm and willing to spend a bit if it means a nicer experience given how much of my life I spend in here. Would be great to have a clean set up so I am interested in daisy chaining, and monitors that might help with peripheral management. Use case is the following: - 90-95% office work—just Microsoft word etc - some gaming although admittedly my requirements are not crazy. I’ve been happily gaming on my p2422h monitors over the last 3 years or so, so I imagine I will be happy with just about anything. - would like a crisp monitor on 27’ so am thinking 4K and something above 60hz. I’ve been considering getting a dell U2725qe and pairing that with a second, cheaper 27’ monitor that I can daisy chain to, and picking up dell’s mda20 monitor arm. Admittedly seems pricey but I am willing if that is the best setup. Does the above setup seem reasonable? If I go for a u2725qe, what other monitor should I look into that I can daisy chain with? Am I being dumb jumping on dell products? If so, any alternate set up you can recommend? submitted by /u/NorthPerspective5143 to r/workstations
