Binance covered $283M in user losses after Friday’s depeg
Binance states that compensation was provided to futures, margin, and loan users who held $USDE, $BNSOL, or $WBETH as collateral and were affected between 21:36–22:16 UTC, as well as to users with verified losses resulting from internal transfers/earn redemptions.

Binance states that compensation was provided to futures, margin, and loan users who held $USDE, $BNSOL, or $WBETH as collateral and were affected between 21:36–22:16 UTC, as well as to users with verified losses resulting from internal transfers/earn redemptions.
Binance also downplayed speculation that the depeg caused the market crash, arguing instead that the crash came first. Binance said existing years-old limit orders for certain tokens, such as ATOM, contributed to some heavy altcoin selloffs on the exchange.

Ex-BitForex CEO linked with $735M BTC Short on Friday, ahead of Trump Tariffs
On-chain investigator EyeOnChain has allegedly identified the mysterious Hyperliquid $HYPE whale controlling over 100,000 $BTC as Garrett Jin, former CEO of collapsed exchange BitForex, which conducted a suspected $56.5M exit scam in February 2024.

On-chain investigator EyeOnChain has allegedly identified the mysterious Hyperliquid $HYPE whale controlling over 100,000 $BTC as Garrett Jin, former CEO of collapsed exchange BitForex, which conducted a suspected $56.5M exit scam in February 2024.
The whale recently sold over $4.23B in BTC to acquire $ETH and opened a $735M BTC short position on Hyperliquid, timing the trade just before President Trump’s tariff announcement that crashed markets🔘 Jin responded to the allegations by stating, “The fund isn’t mine — it’s my clients‘” and claiming he runs nodes providing in-house insights.🔘 Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao shared EyeOnChain’s investigation thread, adding, “not sure of validity, hope someone can cross check.”
EyeOnChain’s investigation revealed that Jin currently holds 46,295 BTC, valued at approximately $5.19B, across eight wallet addresses.
