NEW - Billionaire Peter Thiel invests in Varda Space’s mission to manufacture pharmaceuticals in Orbit, bringing Varda's total funding to $329 million.

Varda uses microgravity to create pharmaceuticals, like novel drug formulations, difficult to produce on Earth. It has completed three successful missions, with a fourth in orbit and a fifth planned. Varda plans to scale its orbital labs for mass drug production, with vehicles capable of yielding up to 50 kilograms of active pharmaceutical ingredients per mission.

Varda Space was founded in California by Will Bruey, former SpaceX electrical engineer, Delian Asparouhov, a partner at Founders Fund and Daniel Marshall.
