🏡 A House of Love, Mercy, and Blessing: The Family That Chose Each Other Over Their Phones
From the beautiful advices I remember hearing from the noble scholar, Shaykh Sulaymān ar-Ruḥaylī — may Allah preserve him — in his beneficial dawrah (دورة أصول معاملة الأهل والأصحاب — Seminar on the Principles of Interacting with Family and Companions), which I sincerely advise every husband, wife, or anyone upon the path to marriage to listen to — the Shaykh mentioned a heartwarming and practical point of advice.
He said that from the most beautiful things a father can do is to create for his children a structured timetable and a family program, and that the husband and wife join them in this noble routine. For example, the parents say to their children: “Between ʿAṣr and ʿIshāʾ, no one is allowed to use a phone or any device.” A box is placed in the home where everyone places their phones, and during that time the family engages in seeking knowledge, reading the Qurʾān, reading beneficial books, having meaningful conversations, enjoying one another’s company, and sharing moments of ḥalāl fun and joy as a family. The Shaykh said this will never work without patience.
And how true are his words. We live in a time where people have become captives, imprisoned by the screens of their phones. You will find a family living under the same roof — yet texting each other through a screen. A mother sitting alone. A wife longing for attention. A child seeking a moment with their father — but all lost in the scroll of devices. This is truly saddening.
How beautiful is a home where mercy, love, and warmth are spread — because the father and mother made a decision: no devices for a portion of the day. Instead, hearts connect, eyes meet, and love is rekindled. For relationships are not built upon mere presence — they are built upon true attention, emotion, and connection.
Do we not remember the Prophet ﷺ? He once sat with his companions wearing a ring. He noticed that it distracted him during their gathering. As narrated by Ibn ʿAbbās, he would look at the ring, then look at them — so he removed it, and he threw it away. The companions, out of their deep love and attentiveness, immediately noticed and asked, “Why did you do that, O Messenger of Allah?”
The Prophet ﷺ said:
«شَغَلَنِي هَذَا عَنْكُمْ مُنْذُ الْيَوْمَ»
“This has distracted me from you since today.”
So ask yourself: What did he choose? The ring — or them? He chose them. He chose his companions. He chose the people over the object.
So when will we do the same? When will we turn our phones off, and turn to our families? To our beloved mothers, wives, children, and siblings?
Let us not allow the brightness of our screens to darken the warmth and love of our homes.

“al-Baqiyaat as-Salihaat” — “Meaning: The Lasting, Enduring Good Deeds”
{الْمَالُ وَالْبَنُونَ زِينَةُ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَالْبَاقِيَاتُ الصَّالِحَاتُ خَيْرٌ عِندَ رَبِّكَ ثَوَابًا وَخَيْرٌ أَمَلًا}
Surah al-Kahf, 18:46
Commenting on this verse, ‘Abdullah Ibn ‘Abbas (radiyAllahu anhu) and (so did) Mujahid, Qatadah, al-Hasan al-Basri, Sa’eed Ibn al-Musayyib, Muhammad Ibn Ka’b al-Qurazi and others say (rahimahumullah):
The “al-Baqiyaat as-Salihaat” (referred to in the verse are these words of Dhikr):
“SubhaanAllaah”
“Alhamdulillaah”
“wa Laa ilaaha ilAllaah”
“wa Allaahu Akbar”

In one of his many writings, Imam as-Sa'di (rahimahullah) wrote:
الفقير الحقيقي هو الافلاس من الباقيات الصالحات
The one who is truly impoverished is one who is bankrupt of any lasting good deeds (al-Baaqiyaat as-Saalihaat).

The Beauty of Femininity: A Noble Honour for Our Muslim Sisters
O noble sister in Islam—pause, reflect, and remember the high station your Lord has given you. He, the Most Wise, did not create you in vain, nor fashion your nature without purpose. He adorned you with softness, gentleness, and modesty—not as signs of weakness, but as marks of dignity, strength, and unmatched influence. You are not a copy of man, nor his competitor—you are his complement, his serenity, his heart’s comfort.
Indeed, true femininity is not inferiority—it is honour. It is a divine strength that nurtures the soul, anchors the household, and brings peace to the hearts of men and children alike. The Muslim woman who embraces her feminine essence walks in the light of the righteous women who came before her—those whom Allah praised in His Book and whose mention endures until today.
But today, the world seeks to erase this. It calls you, O sister, to rebel against your very nature. They say, “Be bold, be loud, be dominant, be like men.” They dress up rebellion as empowerment and shame modesty as weakness. But look with the eye of the believer—do you not see that the ones who followed this path are lost, unfulfilled, confused in identity, and hollow at heart?
Why would a man desire a woman who seeks to mirror him? He does not want a rival in his home—he wants a source of peace, love, and warmth. He wants a woman who softens his heart, not one who hardens her tone.
O sister, your value is not in how many men you can overpower, nor how bold your speech is. Your value lies in your ḥayā’, your softness, your beauty in character, your devotion to your Lord, and your nurturing presence. Allah praised the righteous woman in the story of Mūsā:
فَجَاءَتْهُ إِحْدَاهُمَا تَمْشِي عَلَى ٱسْتِحْيَآءٍ
“Then one of the two women came to him walking with shyness…”
(Al-Qaṣaṣ 28:25)
She approached Mūsā with حياء (shyness and modesty), a noble trait that beautifies a woman and increases her worth in the sight of Allah and His creation. She was not arrogant, loud, or shameless. Ibn Abī Ḥātim recorded—as mentioned in the Tafsīr of Ibn Kathīr—that ʿAmr ibn Maymūn said: ʿUmar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "She came walking shyly, putting her garment over her face. She was not one of those audacious women who come and go as they please."
Contrast this with the worst of women—the سلفع—a term used by the scholars to describe a woman who is harsh, aggressive, and speaks with a rough tongue. The Salfa’ is a woman who abandons her femininity, raising her voice, challenging men with a hardened demeanor, and acting with arrogance. Such a woman is neither honoured by men nor valued in a righteous household.
Dear sister, do not be deceived by the voices calling you away from your natural disposition. Your femininity is not a weakness; it is a strength that attracts love, respect, and admiration. It is what makes you a cherished daughter, a beloved wife, and a nurturing mother. Embrace it with pride, for it is a gift from Allah.
You are the daughters of Khadījah, ʿĀ’ishah, Fāṭimah, and the mothers of believers to come. Honour your station by walking in their footsteps—not the footsteps of those who have turned away from their fiṭrah and now wander in confusion and regret.

💎 PRICELESS TREASURES 💎
✨The Last Two Verses of Surah al Baqarah ✨
قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ قَرَأَ بِالْآيَتَيْنِ مِنْ آخِرِ سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ كَفَتَاهُ
The Prophet ﷺ said,
“Whoever recites the two verses at the end of Sooratul-Baqarah in the night, they will suffice him.”
(Bukhaaree 5009, Muslim 808)
The sufficing here refers to the fact that they will protect him from evil and despised matters, and the Shaytaan will not approach him in the night, and he will be accredited with virtue and reward. And all of these are gathered from this narration. (See Fat-hul-Baaree by Ibn Hajr 9/56)
📌Imaam Ahmad reported in his Musnad from Abu Dharr (radiyallaahu ‘anhu) that the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alaihi wassallam) said:
عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُعْطِيتُ خَوَاتِيمَ سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ مِنْ كَنْزٍ تَحْتَ الْعَرْشِ وَلَمْ يُعْطَهُنَّ نَبِيٌّ قَبْلِي
“I was given the last two verses from Sooratul-Baqarah from the treasure that is just beneath the Throne that was not given to a Prophet before me.”
(No. 21564, Saheeh li-ghairihi, authentic due to supporting reports).
📌Imaam Muslim reports in his Saheeh (no. 173) from ‘Abdullaah Ibn Mas’ood (radiyallaahu ‘anhu) that he said:
لَمَّا أُسْرِيَ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ انْتُهِيَ بِهِ إِلَى سِدْرَةِ الْمُنْتَهَى وَهِيَ فِي السَّمَاءِ السَّادِسَةِ إِلَيْهَا يَنْتَهِي مَا يُعْرَجُ بِهِ مِنْ الْأَرْضِ فَيُقْبَضُ مِنْهَا وَإِلَيْهَا يَنْتَهِي مَا يُهْبَطُ بِهِ مِنْ فَوْقِهَا فَيُقْبَضُ مِنْهَا قَالَ إِذْ يَغْشَى السِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَى قَالَ فَرَاشٌ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ قَالَ فَأُعْطِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَلَاثًا أُعْطِيَ الصَّلَوَاتِ الْخَمْسَ وَأُعْطِيَ خَوَاتِيمَ سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ وَغُفِرَ لِمَنْ لَمْ يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ أُمَّتِهِ شَيْئًا الْمُقْحِمَاتُ
“When the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu alaihi wassallam) was taken on the Night Journey, he went as far as Sidratul-Muntahaa (The Lote Tree at the furthest boundary) which is in the Sixth Heaven. It is there where everything that ascends from the Earth stops, then it is taken from there. And it is there where everything that descends from above stops, then it is taken from there. Allaah says:
إِذْ يَغْشَى السِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَى
“Then that which covered the Lote-tree did cover cover it.” (an-Najm 53:16) Moths of gold. And the Messenger of Allaah was given three things: He was given the five daily Prayers, he was given the final verses of Sooratul-Baqarah, and he was given forgiveness for the major sins of his nation for those who do not associate anything in worship with Allaah.”
📌Imaam an-Nawawee (rahimahullaah) said:
“What is intended by forgiveness is that the major sinner will not remain in Hellfire forever, and not that he will not be punished at all, but he may receive the punishment deserving upon the sinners. Or the intent [of forgiveness] could be that some of the Ummah is forgiven for their major sins – and that is something particular to this Ummah.”
(Sharh an-Nawawee 2/3)
📌Imaam Muslim (no. 806) narrates in his Saheeh from Ibn ‘Abbaas (radiyallaahu ‘anhumaa) who said:
“While Jibreel was sitting with the Prophet, he heard a creaking sound from above him, so he raised his head and said: “This is a door in Heaven that has been opened today, and it has never been opened before today. An angel descended from it, and this angel has come down to the Earth. He has never descended before this day ever. So the angel gave the salautations of Salaam and said: ‘Receive glad tidings of two lights that have been given to you that were never given to a Prophet before you: The Opening Chapter of the Book (Al-Faatihah), and the closing verses at the end of Al-Baqarah. You will not recite a single letter from them but you will be given reward.”

“What is intended by forgiveness is that the major sinner will not remain in Hellfire forever, and not that he will not be punished at all, but he may receive the punishment deserving upon the sinners. Or the intent [of forgiveness] could be that some of the Ummah is forgiven for their major sins – and that is something particular to this Ummah.”

📌Imaam Muslim (no. 806) narrates in his Saheeh from Ibn ‘Abbaas (radiyallaahu ‘anhumaa) who said:
“While Jibreel was sitting with the Prophet, he heard a creaking sound from above him, so he raised his head and said: “This is a door in Heaven that has been opened today, and it has never been opened before today. An angel descended from it, and this angel has come down to the Earth. He has never descended before this day ever. So the angel gave the salautations of Salaam and said: ‘Receive glad tidings of two lights that have been given to you that were never given to a Prophet before you: The Opening Chapter of the Book (Al-Faatihah), and the closing verses at the end of Al-Baqarah. You will not recite a single letter from them but you will be given reward.”

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ
يَتَقَارَبُ الزَّمَانُ وَيُقْبَضُ الْعِلْمُ وَتَظْهَرُ الْفِتَنُ وَيُلْقَى الشُّحُّ وَيَكْثُرُ الْهَرْجُ قَالُوا وَمَا الْهَرْجُ قَالَ الْقَتْلُ

157 صحيح مسلم كتاب الإيمان باب بيان الزمن الذي لا يقبل فيه الإيمان
Abu Huraira رضي الله عنه reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said,
“Time will pass rapidly, knowledge will be withdrawn, tribulations will prevail, greed will be cast into hearts, and there will be many upheavals.” They said, “What is upheaval?” The Prophet ﷺ said, “It is killing.”

My Ustadh told me something one evening that completely shifted the way I viewed hardship.
We were talking about setbacks - missed opportunities, closed doors, things that just didn't go our way. Someone had just shared how they didn't get into a job they're really passionate about. You could see the weight in their voice. Disappointment laced every word.
That's when Ustadh said:
"You know the story of Musa and Khidr?"
We all nodded.
He said:
"Everyone loves the part where Khidr explains why he broke the boat, killed the boy, and rebuilt the wall. Because suddenly, the pain makes sense. The confusion becomes clarity. But do you realise something?"
He paused.
"Musa only got the explanation because it was a lesson. The people who owned the boat, the parents of that child, the town that rejected them-they never got told. They just had to live with what happened."
The room was quiet.
Then he said:
"Sometimes in life, you don't get the Khidr moment. You don't get to find out why something happened. You just get the qadr. The closed door. The loss. The silence. And your test is whether you can still trust Allah without needing the explanation."
He leaned forward and said:
"It's easy to have sabr when the story wraps up neatly. But the real test is:
Can you have tawakkul when you're still in the middle of the story?"
I remember sitting with those words long after the class ended.
Because we all wait for our Khidr moment, the point where everything makes sense. But sometimes, that moment doesn't come in this life. And still, we are asked to trust.
And that's the moral he left us with:
"Iman isn't proven by understanding the plan, rather by trusting the Planner Himself."
