Make Your House A House of Goodness!

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“When one of you finishes his prayer in the mosque, let him make a portion of his prayer in his house, for indeed Allah will place goodness in his house because of his prayer.” [Muslim (776)]

Shaykh Ibn ʿUthaymīn (رحمه الله) said in its explanation in [Sharḥ Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, (4/269)]

The goodness (khayr) mentioned here has several aspects:

• The blessing (barakah) that descends upon the place where one prays.

• Protection from showing off (riyā’) and seeking reputation (sum‘ah).

• Training the family and children to pray and to love the prayer; for this reason, you find that when a child sees his father praying, he imitates him in prayer, even if he has not yet reached the age of understanding.

Brand new series by AMAU! 📚

Inspired by the Salaf taught by Shaykh Abubakar al Khalafi

Our first episode uncovers a hard truth: many of us have turned worship into content and attention into a habit.

The Salaf hid their good deeds, while we chase visibility.

Enlightening the Heart

Imām al-Shāfiʿī (رحمه الله) said:

“Whoever loves that Allah should illuminate his heart, let him refrain from speaking about what does not concern him, abandon sins, avoid disobedience, and keep between himself and Allah some secret deeds. For when he does that, Allah will grant him knowledge and will occupy him with it over anything else.”

Two Most Precious Things

Ibn al-Jawzī (رحمه الله) said:

WEAK MAN!

Sufyān at-Thawri (رحمه الله) was asked about the saying of Allah, the Most High:

“And man was created weak” (an-Nisa :28).

What is his weakness?

He said:A woman may pass by a man, and he cannot control himself from looking at her, even though he gains no benefit from her. So what could be weaker than this?

📚[Hilyat al-Awliyā’ (7/68)]
FOUR MEANS OF ATTAINING ALLAH'S FORGIVENESS: IMAM AS-SA’DI

While mentioning some of the benefits derived from the story of Moosaa and Haaroon, Imam ‘Abd al-Rahman as-Sa’di mentions the following point of clarity and great benefit:

🔺And from the benefits is that Allah’s statement:

But indeed, I am the Perpetual Forgiver of whoever repents and believes and does righteousness and then continues in guidance. [20:82]
With this statement Allah comprises all of the means by which the forgiveness of Allah is reached.

First: at-Tawbah (repentance), and that is returning from what Allah hates – both outwardly and inwardly – back towards what Allah loves – both outwardly and inwardly. And this is in respond to what previously occurred in terms of both major and minor sins.

Second: al-Eemaan, and that is definitive confirmation and affirmation in general of everything that Allah and His Messenger ﷺ have informed us. And this necessitates actions of the heart, which is then followed by actions of the limbs. And there is no doubt that what is in the heart of eemaan in Allah, His Books, His messengers and the Last Day about which there is no doubt – that these are the foundation for acts of obedience, and the greatest of them, and their grounding. And there is no doubt that one’s Eemaan repels sins according to its strength; it repels that which does not occur by preventing its possessor from engaging in it, and it deflects that which does occur by bringing about that which negates the occurrence and by not allowing the heart to persist upon it. For indeed, what is in the heart of the believer in terms of al-eemaan and light cannot be combined with disobedience.

Third: Righteous good deeds, and this is inclusive of deeds of the heart, actions of the limbs, and statements of the tongue. And good deeds remove bad deeds.

Fourth: Consistency upon al-Eemaan and guidance, and increasing in that. So whoever perfects these four causes (of forgiveness), then let him receive glad tidings of the forgiveness of Allah which is general and inclusive. And for this reason it comes here with the maximal description of:

And indeed, I am the Perpetual Forgiver [20:82]
