One of my role models (not that I have many of them) as a teacher is @english_with_paul_newson. Unlike many of us "IELTS experts", Paul specializes in teaching real English. I actually used to follow him on VK quite religiously back in the days. It was thanks to a single post of his I read that I came to adopt a completely different approach to language learning - one that helped me break past the Band 8.0 plateau.

IELTS Marathon features all the materials from the Speaking Marathon, making it better value for money. The reason why the marathon is not based on live lessons is simply because there is so much to cover and I cannot deliver all of that in 2 hour live classes. Besides, it would be pretty gruesome both for me and learners to study that much in a live lesson. So short video recordings are better in that regard! This does not – in any way – take away from the quality. If anything, as far as I'm concerned, video lessons are more effective than live lessons. It's not as if you guys go a great job of attending all the live classes either, right?
