Thinking of launching this new course sometime this month. I just made some quick notes off the top of my head and will start working on the structure in earnest soon.

There anyone who needs an online program like this?

Earlier this year, I was analyzing all reading passages in Cambridge books (from 10 till 19) and categorized them by topic. These four were the most common:

Humanities (history, human culture, art) – 23.17%
Environment & animals – 17.68%
Psychology & Neuroscience – 16.46%
Architecture & Engineering & Transportation – 15.85%

These numbers may be meaningless to you, but let me cook.

See, reading passages are basically vocabulary tests, but they are also tests of your general knowledge. If you like history generally, you will like a passage about history, too. It will be easier to read, and things like BC and AD will be easy terms for you.

But what if you don't like history and want to avoid it? Well, percentages are not looking good for you. As you see, according to a very simple way of categorizing passages, there is approximately 23% chance that your passage will be based on history or related to history (part of humanities). So maybe you need to improve your knowledge of history to prepare yourself for the test better. At least you have to force yourself to learn the basics related to history.

@ieltsaidbydilshodbek βœ…

Still don't believe me? Let me mention some passages related to humanities from real Cambridge books (10-19). See the post below ⬇️

TOP TIP FOR SPEAKING BAND 9.0 PROSPECTS

Upon working with my individual students, I have come to devise – rather realize – an incredibly practical speaking strategy: using the transcription tool on Zoom. All the more reason to take online classes – you can't see subtitles over your "physical" students' heads, can you?

Whereas before when I would painstakingly write out all the errors my students make, I am now simply using live transcription on my go-to teaching platform, Zoom. Not only does this streamline the whole feedback-giving process for me, but it also adds another layer to it: checking pronunciation. When the tool doesn't pick up a student's word, I will know they will have messed up the pronunciation.

More importantly, though, having access to an entire 2-minute talk in text form helps me work out the kinks with the student's speech even further. It means I can make tweaks to their entire unnatural sentences, rather than just words. This can be such a game changer for an advanced student or a teacher with an already good command of English who is struggling to level up. You can see my corrections in the above photos.

This is how I recommend you make use of this technological wonder:

1. Pick a speaking test (preferably from Cambridge books) and record yourself on Zoom.
2. Turn on live transcription; a little bit of tinkering should get you there just fine.
3. Don't focus on the language usage yet, just speak without preparation, don't look back.
4. Now watch the recording of your performance and keep an eye on the script.
5. Highlight all the points of your responses where you sounded unnatural, made mistakes, and hesitated
6. You can even turn to Chat GPT or any other LLM to help with the mistakes and stuff.
7. Answer the same questions again, refining your answers based on the feedback you've given yourself.

This works perfectly if you are already pretty advanced but keep making fossilized errors. Believe you me – self-analysis is the best form of feedback. Just trust the process.
