I also teach my students how to use Chat GPT to drill certain speaking "techniques" we learn from real life sources. And let me tell you – it's just brilliant.

For example, with my Intermediate+ students today, we learned to use "rhetorical questions" from an interview of Chris Hemsworth, which, turns out, is super useful for Speaking Part 2.

At first, I wanted to be a doctor. But then I thought, wait, do I even like hospitals? Probably not. So I switched to teaching.

Isn't this amazing?

The best drink is matcha. Period. #ChangeMyMind

You may not like the first sip of matcha, but believe me it will grow on you – just give it some time. And I think macarons and matcha go together like peanut butter and jelly. You can't go wrong with it. The smooth texture of the dessert is neatly complemented by the mildness of the drink.

Mayli, uni-buni qo'yinglar. Mana bu masterpiece'ga qarenglar. Intermediate+ o'quvchilarim (aniqrog'i bitta Asilani o'zi) zo'r ishlashadida. Bitta phrase o'rgatsam yoki qanqadir speaking strategy o'rgatsam, uni yaxshilab "drill" qilishadi. Keyin unga feedback olishadi – faqat grammatika uchun emas, balki "pronunciation" va "word choice" ga ham.

We had another live lesson with Intermediate+ students yesterday, and here is what a new student (although not technically new) had to say about it.

I haven’t been to the office in the evening for months now – since I started working in the morning. Feels weird to be here this late. 😅

I actually took the test again after the 9.0 this summer. This time around it was with BC, and I honestly just did it for the fun of it – you know how IELTS has always been my source of dopamine. The results, as you can see, are nothing short of a disappointment – L8.5, R8.5, W8, S8.

But I am glad I almost scored a 9.0 again for Task 2, something I had already done twice before. This boosts my confidence even more in my writing skills. To be honest, I was surprised my writing score wasn't 8.5-9.0 this time – the performance was brilliant. But as you can see, it was Task 1 that held me back.

When it comes to speaking, they had to do me dirty like this again, huh? Neither an 8.0 or an 8.5 – they just had to throw in that 9.0 for Pronunciation, right? It was not my best performance, yes, but I thought I was going to get 8.5.

Don't even get me started on Reading and Listening.

Asking your teacher which examiner gives generous scores is moot – it's not like you can choose your examiner on the test day, right? Nor can you do anything about it if you do in fact end up with that "generous" examiner.

*️⃣I used two useful phrases/language items for Task 2. Would you care to explain them in the comments?

Thinking of launching this new course sometime this month. I just made some quick notes off the top of my head and will start working on the structure in earnest soon.

There anyone who needs an online program like this?

Earlier this year, I was analyzing all reading passages in Cambridge books (from 10 till 19) and categorized them by topic. These four were the most common:

Humanities (history, human culture, art) – 23.17%
Environment & animals17.68%
Psychology & Neuroscience16.46%
Architecture & Engineering & Transportation15.85%

These numbers may be meaningless to you, but let me cook.

See, reading passages are basically vocabulary tests, but they are also tests of your general knowledge. If you like history generally, you will like a passage about history, too. It will be easier to read, and things like BC and AD will be easy terms for you.

But what if you don't like history and want to avoid it? Well, percentages are not looking good for you. As you see, according to a very simple way of categorizing passages, there is approximately 23% chance that your passage will be based on history or related to history (part of humanities). So maybe you need to improve your knowledge of history to prepare yourself for the test better. At least you have to force yourself to learn the basics related to history.

@ieltsaidbydilshodbek

Still don't believe me? Let me mention some passages related to humanities from real Cambridge books (10-19). See the post below ⬇️
