A tiger mother is a slang term that describes a strict but loving mother who demands the best from her child. It is commonly used to refer to an Asian mother but is not limited to Asians.

The term comes from the intense protection that female tigers give their cubs. Human moms can show this same intensity when they are overbearing and squander their kids. They are commonly too involved in their kids' lives and demand too much in regards to obedience, academics, and other areas of life. Name shame is a term that refers to the inability to remember the name of a person with which you have spent a lot of time. The shame part of the term comes from the fact that you have spent a lot of time with the person yet you still cannot remember his or her name.

The inability to remember a name often happens because the person is not memorable or has a forgettable face. You cannot apply this term to people with memory loss issues, that's just not fair.
