1960s - As I used Walthamstow market in the 90s, I'm old enough to have witnessed some of the final days of the humerous characters that made London's street markets a theatrical experience.

Just had to spend another 20 minutes or so cleaning up the glass of several smashed bottles on the only pavement in an allocated dog walking park. I find myself doing this a lot, but this one has really annoyed me. It only takes one piece to irrevocably damage someone's dog or, worse, a child. Respect and decorum have become a thing of the past.

The art of stone masonry and the results it produced puts modern architecture to utter shame. Watching this really highlights the level of skill and the arduous work involved in creating the beautiful structures of the past. It also gives us an insight into the skill behind the few people who still uphold this trade and skill to this day.
