I made this pouch from thick vegetable tanned leather based loosely on finds from Birka and applied gold plated bronze Woden head mounts based on real Anglo Saxon artefacts, referred to commonly as WAINES (Woden Avatars in Numerous Environments).

"HUNDINGSBANE'S RETURN TO VALHAL" by Ernest Wallcousins (1883-1976)

Helgi Hundingsbane is a Volsung Saga Hero mentioned in the Poetic Edda in Helgakviða Hundingsbana and well as in the Saga Hrómundar saga Gripssonar.
Helgi, the fifteen-year-old son of Sigmund and Borghild, avenges his father by killing Hunding, the Saxon king, earning the title Hunding's Bane. Known for his martial prowess, he is visited one day on his longship by Sigrún, a valkyrie who rides through air and sea and is aware of his deeds. She embraces and kisses him, and he instantly falls in love with her.

In the saga of Hadding in the Gesta Danorum, when Hadding goes to Helheim, he sees a group of warriors fighting, who Hel explains are attempting to surpass the deeds of their lives-preparing for reincarnation. Finally, She demonstrates that one can leave Helheim and reincarnate.
Just as one can inherit and be born with a tarnished hamingja, one can repair it by living well and pass on, and eventually inherit, a noble hamingja.
Even Jötnar can ascend to the point of reaching the halls of the Æsir, such as Skaði, who aids in the binding of Loki. There is no original sin, nor eternal damnation. ᛠ

-A great king of the Nordic Bronze Age c 1700 BC
-Another man in 1400 BC with a cist grave
- A Saxon noble lady in the Migration Era c. 400 AD was buried in the top of the barrow
2000 years of ritual activity at this barrow were maintained by the ancestors of the English

An interesting zierscheibe from Crailsheim, Baden-Würrtemburg, and an Anglo Saxon mount from the Museum of Wales similarly featured a figure with crossed legs surrounded by serpents; this could indicate a shaman in a meditative stance, journeying to the underworld, indicated by the snakes; even Woden Himself. ᚩ
