Food bazaar
My sister will be opening up her iconic cinnamon rolls to the public for the first time.

We had Cinnabon growing up, and hers have that similar filling, well-rounded flavor but they don't tend to leave you feeling like your number of days have been shortened by much.

She's also preparing chicken sandwiches with dried tomatoes, good ol' grilled ham and cheese, chocolate-frosted cupcakes and punch.
She honestly ruined desserts for me and I'm so proud of her because of how she's been scaling up what she knows—I've been restraining myself from eating too much of her business.

You can have a taste of this stuff this Saturday or Sunday. But if not, I wouldn't mind having a lot of it to myself 😋: https://maps.app.goo.gl/R5oaNttX8Xo9Mb7R6

Bébé's Bakes is returning to https://maps.app.goo.gl/R5oaNttX8Xo9Mb7R6 today from 10 am to 6 pm
(thanks to everyone who said hi from here yesterday, btw;)
Good evening,

I finally managed to go to Tsion's art exhibition, which my sister highly recommended I see.
I ended up having so much to say about the experience, I wrote a review about it: https://medium.com/@wintaassefa/an-art-exhibition-in-addis-ababa-f7b6e8ba02f2?sk=c49619dbb6965bade65f6e3fb43d1f46.

If you're in Addis until the end of November, I recommend that you go see this young artist's work for yourselves. It's in Studio 11, not far from Medhanialem Church, and they're open from 10 am to 6 pm, from Tuesdays to Sundays (no Mondays :))

I wish you a relaxing rest of the weekend there.
My best,

A lovely lady who goes by @khado88 is giving away the kitties she has been raising (free of charge, of course).

So, if you want to adopt one (or more 👀), you could DM her here @khado88
12 months in 12 colors
Last week, I got the idea to create a messy physical review of my year.
It's a mostly straightforward piece: each month is represented by a different color, the months that felt longer take up more space than the other ones, and I marked my events, trips, loved ones' 'wins' and mundane happenings with little doodles and notes in the approximate points on the months when they happened.

I used my phone gallery to remember everything from when we were preparing for my sister's first bazaar to when I tried a new food combination (I highly recommend trying guacamole sauce with fir fir, whenever you can!).

I feel like there were several months this year when I moved around like an NPC character, and some pictures reminded me of things I didn't want to recall.
But I came out of this 'exercise' with a few notes that would be fresh in my mind as we barge into yet another January.

Good morning

I hope your year has been going well so far. I come with great news for those of you who've been asking about where you could watch the Urban Genesis documentary: it's now streaming (for free) on a Swiss website called Klappe!

You'll have to set your VPN to Switzerland for the link to work, but after that, you could view the entire documentary on the site.

If you face any complications when trying to open the site, you can send me a direct message here.
Have a lovely rest of the week.

Making skinny sketchbooks
I made my first sketchbook with my classmates in EIABC. But since then, I have looked up different ways of making sketchbooks (especially ones that didn't involve stitching), and after years of trial and refining, I developed a go-to sketchbook-making method.

That's the method I share in my short Skillshare class. I also show the different 'weaker' sketchbook designs I came up with over the years and how I improved them in following iterations.
I do hope this emboldens you to make your own little sketchbook too (if you haven't already :)

For the stationery junkies
Hey
I hope the first quarter of '25 had been treating you alright.

If you're keeping an eye out for innovative tools to draw or doodle with, I made a video where I try out & review some markers, pens and a brush pen(!)

I feel like if my friends & I had seen some of these when we were in architecture school, we would've taken extreme measures to get them immediately.
