Tulip season in the Netherlands

Tulip season in The Netherlands kicks off in early spring, creating stunning fields of color across the country. Although tulips are iconic to Dutch culture, they originally hail from Kazakhstan. If you're eager to see these blooms, several areas offer amazing views.

The Bollenstreek, near the famous Keukenhof Gardens, is a go-to, but lesser-known spots like Beemster, North Holland, Texel, and Flevoland promise beautiful, less crowded views.

In Flevoland, explore places like Dronten and Zeewolde. Drenthe offers tranquil tulip paths, while Goeree-Overflakkee and Zeeuws-Vlaanderen in Zeeland provide gorgeous flower fields off the beaten path.

The Basilica of Sacré Cœur de Montmartre, France

The Sacred Heart Basilica, or Sacré-Coeur, with its massive dome, is a landmark in Paris' trendy Montmartre area, known as the Painter's Neighborhood.

Perched on a 427-foot hill, it offers stunning city views. Designed by Paul Abadie and built from 1875 to 1914, it stands at 272 feet tall and was consecrated in 1919.

While the dome provides a panorama, it's not as famed for views as the Eiffel Tower or Arc de Triomphe, and the crypt isn't remarkable.

Getting there is easy with the Montmartre funicular, saving you a steep climb. The area brims with dining spots and shops, perfect for soaking up its artistic vibe.

Callanish Stones, Scotland

The Callanish Stones, a striking stone circle with rows of 12-foot-tall monoliths, form a cross-like shape. Nestled within is a chambered tomb, as if protected by these ancient stones.

Erected by Neolithic people around 5,000 years ago, the stones were a hub for rituals for at least a thousand years. Their exact purpose is unknown, but it's believed they served as an astronomical observatory or calendar.

Legends abound, with tales of petrified giants and a magic cow. Unlike Stonehenge, visitors can freely explore and touch these stones.

Outlander fans find it fascinating, as they inspired the fictional Craigh na Dun. Visiting any season is magical, with the summer sun or the Northern Lights enhancing their mystery.
