Xiaomi's naming scheme: Infography
XiaoMi: Xiao=little, Mi=from MiUI (miui was a famous custom rom even before the first xiaomi phone). It also means "Millet", the popular grain in Chinese cuisine. (A word play it is)
RedMi: was "Hongmi" at start (first release was Hongmi Note), and Hongmi means "red rice". Also a word play on Red (hot)+ Mi.
Poco: Spanish for Xiao=little. An attempt to attract EU and S/N American users who cant pronounce Xiaomi. 😂 (NOT Jayomi)
The list then extends to: mi,t,f,note,k,c,m,a,x,ultra,pro,max,e,turbo,speed,r,se,civi,lite,4g,5g,nfc,g/i/c.... not even Xiaomi's ceo is keeping track.
