✞✞✞On this day we commemorate the Departure of Saint Amette Christos (Christodoula)✞✞✞

✞✞✞In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, one God. Amen!✞✞✞

✞✞✞Saint Amette Christos (Christodoula)✞✞✞
=>Our holy mother who was Israeli in lineage was born in Jerusalem around the 5th century. Because her parents were Christians they raised her properly and hired her a tutor (sent her to school).

✞And because her tutor was a monk, he did not spend the night in the city. He used to teach her and return to his cell on the same day. And so Amette Christos (Christodoula) learned well the Old and New Testaments.

✞One day, while she waited as always upon her instructor to learn, he did not come. So Amette Christos (Christodoula) went to the monk’s cell to visit (check on) him and also to learn.

✞And when she reached the cell and knocked at the door, no one answered or opened it. But from the inside she heard a bitter cry and a voice which said, “O my Lord! Forgive me!” It was the monk.

✞St. Amette Christos suddenly got of an idea. She thought, “If he, living in purity, beseeches for his soul like this, is not much more expected of me?!” and returned to her home. Then, she changed her cloth and without saying farewell to her folks went hurriedly to Mt. Golgotha carrying a basket of peas and water in a small vessel.

✞There, she fell down and wept upon the [empty] tomb of Our Lord Jesus Christ. She prayed saying, “O Lord! Let my soul find peace, preserve me from the wicked enemy and bless this basket of peas and water so it sustains me for my entire life.”

✞And after saying that starting from Jerusalem she crossed the Deserts of Kadesh and Sinai on foot and reached Egypt. And as she has chosen the life of a hermit, entered a desert where there was no vegetation and the sun scorched like fire.

✞There, she stayed for 38 years without being seen by anyone, eating from the peas she had to sustain her flesh and drinking a bit from the water. And when the scorching sun of the day and the cold air of the night slashed her cloth to pieces, God made her hair to grow and covered her whole body.

✞And when her time to depart came near, Abba Daniel who wrote the Chronicles of the Saints arrived at where she lived. And when he saw her, he followed her but she entered into a crevice of a rock and hid. And Abba Daniel begged from the outside saying, “Please my father come out and bless me!” He did not know that she was a woman. But she replied, “As I am naked, I will not come out.”

✞He then removed his cover and gave her. Then she came out and they discussed. And by the will of God, he knew all her account. And when he looked back at her cell, he saw a basket filled with peas. It was full even after being consumed for 38 years! To see what would happen, he ate plenty from the peas and drank from the water but both did not reduce in amount.

✞In astonishment he said, “My mother! Take my cloth.” But the Saint responded, “Bring me a new one.” And on the day, he brought it for her, as she was hidden, he was not able to find her.

✞But one day (meaning on Ginbot 28/June 5- today) elder monks came and told him what they encountered. They said, “We saw a person in the desert and when we followed her and entered her cell, there we found a basket of peas and water in a vessel. And when we ate it, it immediately got depleted.” And Abba Daniel started to cry without letting them finish.

✞Because [he knew] if the peas were done, it meant that St. Amette Christos (Christodoula) had passed away. But the elders continued, “And when we came out we found her body which was covered in hair, departed after kneeling towards the east. After we received blessing from her body, we buried her.” And Abba Daniel wrote her accounts and so the Church commemorates her today.

✨በአማን ተንሥአ መድኃኒነ!✨
🌿ብፁዕ አባ አቡነ ተክለ ሃይማኖት ዘኤለ ገዳማተ እምኀበ እግዚኡ ይነሣእ እሴተ ቦአ ሀገረ ደብረ ሊባኖስ በፍሥሐ ወበሰላም።

⚜ሰአል ለነ ጊዮርጊስ ኀበ እግዚአብሔር ወጸሊ በእንቲአነ ሐረድዎ ወገመድዎ ወዘረዉ ሥጋሁ ከመ ሐመድ ወወሰድዎ ኀበ ሰብአ ነገሥት ረገጸ ምድረ አንሥአ ሙታነ አባ ጊዮርጊስ በሰላም ዐደወ መንግሥተ ክብር ወረሰ።

🌿ወልደ እግዚአብሔር አምላክነ ወመድኃኒነ ዕቀብ  ሕይወተነ እም ገሀነመ እሳት ወእምኵሉ መንሱት በእንተ ቅዱስ ስምከ ወበእንተ ማርያም እምከ ወበእንተ ቅዱስ መስቀል ወበእንተ ዮሐንስ ወንጌላዊ ወበእንተ ዮሐንስ መጥምቅከ ወበእንተ ኵሎሙ ቅዱሳን ወሀባ ሰላመ ለሀገሪትነ ኢትዮጵያ ወለቅድስት ቤተክርስቲያን።

⚜ሰላም ለክሙ ጻድቃን ወሰማዕት እለ አዕረፍክሙ በዛቲ ዕለት መዋዕያነ ዓለም አንትሙ በብዙኅ ትዕግሥት። ሰአሉ ቅድመ ፈጣሪ በኩሉ ሰዓት እንበለ ንስሐ ኪያነ ኢይንሣእ ሞት።

🌿አንቅሐኒ በጽባሕ ክሥተኒ ዕዝንየ በዘአጸምእ አምላኪየ አምላኪየ እገይሥ ኀቤከ ዘይሰማዕ ግበር ሊተ ምሕረተከ በጽባሕ"

⚜ነቢያት ወሐዋርያት፥ ጻድቃን ወሰማዕት፤ ደናግል ወመነኮሳት፥ አዕሩግ ወሕጻናት፤ ገዳማውያን ወሊቃውንት፤ ሰአሉ ለነ ኲልክሙ፥ ቅድመ መንበሩ ለጸባኦት።

🌿እግዝእትየ ፍትሕኒ እማዕሠሩ ለሰይጣን፤
እሙ ለመድኅን ወለተ ብርሃን።

✝ዝክረ ቅዱሳን ማኅበረ ቅዱስ ዳዊት ጉባኤ ዘጎንደር

=>አባ አፍፄና አባ ጉባ ቁጥራቸው ከተስዓቱ (ዘጠኙ)
ቅዱሳን ነው::

=>ጻድቁ የተወለዱት እስያ ውስጥ በ5ኛው መቶ ክ/ዘመን
ሲሆን ወላጆቻቸው አቡሊዲስና አቅሌስያ ይባላሉ:: ገና
በሕጻንነታቸው
ብሉይ ከሐዲስ ጠንቅቀው ወደ ግብፅ ወርደዋል:: በዚያም
በአባ መቃርስ እጅ መንኩሰዋል:: አባ አፍፄ ወደ ኢትዮዽያ
የመጡት
በአልዐሜዳ ዘመን ከ8ቱ ባልንጀሮቻቸው ጋር ነው::

+ጻድቁ ጸበል እያፈለቁ ብዙ ድውያንን ፈውሰዋል::
ትግራይ ውስጥ የሐ የተባለው ቦታም ማረፊያቸው ነበር::

❖ለጻድቁ በጥቂቱ እነዚሕን እንጠቅሳለን:-

1.ከ100 ዓመት በላይ አበ ምኔት ሆነው በኖሩበት
ገዳማቸው በፍጹም ትጋት: በጾምና በጸሎት
አገልግለዋል::

2.በመጀመሪያ ያስከተሏቸውን 366 ደቀ መዛሙርት
ጨምሮ ብዙ መናንያንን አፍርተው በሃገራችን ገዳማዊ
ሕይወትን አስፋፍተዋል::

3.ቅዱሳት መጻሕፍትን ከሱርስትና ከጽርዕ ቋንቋ ወደ
ግዕዝ ተርጉመዋል::

4.በስብከተ ወንጌል ለሃገራችን ብርሃን አብርተዋል::
ሕዝቡ በጣዕመ ስብከታቸው ይገረም ስለ ነበር "አፍፄ
(አፈ-ዐፄ)"
ብሏቸዋል:: "የዐፄ (የንጉሥ) አንደበት ያለው" ወይም
"ንግግር አዋቂ" ማለት ነው::

+ጻድቁ ከ200 ዓመታት በላይ ቤተ ክርስቲያንን
አገልግለው በዚሕች ቀን በ684 ዓ/ም ተሠውረዋል::
እግዚአብሔርም
በስማቸው ለተማጸነ: ገዳማቸውን ለተሳለመ የምሕረት
ቃል ኪዳን ሰጥቷቸዋል::

=>ጻድቁ የተወለዱት ታሕሳስ 29 ቀን በ336 ዓ/ም
በመንፈቀ ሌሊት ነው:: አባታቸው ጌርሎስ: እናታቸው
ቴዎዶክስያ ደጐች
ነበሩ::

+አባ ጉባ ("ባ" ጠብቆ ይነበብ) በተወለዱ ቀን ጌታችን
ከመላእክቱ ጋር በመውረዱ ቤታቸው ለ7 ቀናት በብርሃን
ተሞልቶ
ነበር:: ሕጻኑ ጉባም ፈጣሪያቸውን ሃሌ ሉያ ብለው
አመስግነዋል::

+በልጅነታቸው መጻሕፍትን አጥንተው: ወደ ገዳመ
አስቄጥስ ገብተው መንነዋል:: ለበርካታ ዓመታት ከተጋደሉ
በኋላ ሊቀ
መላእክት ቅዱስ ገብርኤል "ወደ ቅድስት ሃገር ኢትዮዽያ
ሒድ" ብሏቸው ከ8ቱ ቅዱሳን ጋር ወደ ሃገራችን
መጥተዋል::
በወቅቱ ዕድሜአቸው ከ140 በላይ ነበር::

+ጻድቁ አባ ጉባ እንደመሰሎቻቸው በስብከተ ወንጌል:
መጻሕፍትን በመተርጐም: ገዳማትን በማስፋፋትና አብያተ
ክርስቲያናትን
በማነጽ ቆይተዋል:: በተለይ ራማ ኪዳነ ምሕረት
የእርሳቸው ናት ይባላል::

+ጻድቁ ቅዳሴ ሲቀድሱ ከመሬት ከፍ ብለው ነበር:: ብዙ
ጸበሎችን አፍልቀው ድውያንን ፈውሰዋል:: ሙታንንም
አንስተዋል::
እመቤታችንም የብርሃን መስቀል ሰጥታቸዋለች:: ጻድቁ
ከበርካታ የቅድስና ዘመናት በኋላ በዚህች ቀን ዐርፈው
በገዳማቸው
ተቀብረዋል::

+በዘመኑ ትኩረት ካጡ ታላላቅ ገዳማት አንዱ ይሔው
ትግራይ ውስጥ የሚገኘው የአባ ጉባ ገዳም ነው::
(በነገራችን ላይ "ጉባ" ማለት "አፈ-መዐር: ጥዑመ-
ልሳን" ማለት ነው)

❖ቸሩ መድኃኔ ዓለም ክርስቶስ የጻድቃኑን በረከት
ያድለን::
በጸሎታቸውም በደላችንን ይቅር ይበለን::

✞✞✞ Abba Aftse and Abba Guba✞✞✞
=> Abba Aftse and Abba Guba were two of the Nine Saints.

✞✞✞ Abba Aftse ✞✞✞
=>The Saint was born in Asia Minor in the 5th century and his parents were called Hippolytus and Ecclesia. He completed the Old and New Testaments while he was just a child and then went to Egypt. And there, he was made a monk by the hands of Abba Macarius. Abba Aftse came to Ethiopia during the reign of Ella Amida with his 8 [monk] friends.

✞The Saint by bringing forth many healing, holy water springs cured many. And his monastery was at Yeha in Tigray.

✞✞✞Some points about the Saint.
1. In his monastery, where he was the Abbot for a 100 years, he served in complete diligence, fasting, and prayer.
2. He expanded monasticism in our country by bearing many monks including the 366, his first disciples.
3. He translated the Holy Books from Syriac, and Greek.
4. He shone a light in our country by preaching the Gospel. And the people because they were amazed by his sermons gave him the name Aftse (Afe/The Mouth of – Atse/An Emperor) which means “One who has the mouth of an Emperor” or “Orator – one who knows how to speak”.

✞After the Saint served the Church for over 200 years, he was taken up (like Enoch) in the year 684 E.C. God has given Abba Aftse a covenant which assures the mercy of the one who beseechs in his name and visits his monastery.

✞✞✞Abba Guba✞✞✞
=>The Saint was born on Tahisas 29 (January 7) in the year 336 E.C at mid-night. His father Gerlos (Cyril) and his mother Theodoxia were kind.

✞And when Abba Guba (-ba should be stressed) was born, because our Lord descended with His angels, their house was filled with light for 7 days. And the infant Guba praised his Creator saying, “Hallelujah”.

✞The Saint studied the Bible in his childhood, entered the Monastery of Scetes and became a monk. And after he fought for several years, because the Archangel St. Gabriel appeared to him and said, “Go to the holy land, Ethiopia”, he came to our country with the 8 Saints. At the time, his was older than 140 years.

✞The Righteous Abba Guba stayed here, like the rest of his acquaintances, by preaching, translating books, expanding monasticism (monasteries) and building Churches. Particularly, the Church, Rama Kidane Meheret, is considered to have been established by him.

✞When the Saint used to celebrate the Divine Liturgy, he used to be elevated from the ground. And he has also brought forth many healing, holy water springs and cured countless of the sick. He has also raised the dead. And our Lady has given him a Cross of light as well. The Saint, after many years of holiness, passed away on this day and was buried in his monastery (at Madara).

✞This Monastery of Abba Guba found in Tigray is one of the great monasteries which are being neglected in this era.

(By the way “Guba” means “A Mouth of Honey, Sweet- Tongued”)

✞✞✞May the Holy Savior, Christ, Who is good, grant us from the blessings of the Saints. And by their prayers may He forgive our transgressions.
