✞✞✞ ✝በስመ አብ ወወልድ ወመንፈስ ቅዱስ አሐዱ አምላክ ፡፡ አሜን ፡፡ ✞✞✞

✞✞✞ ✝እንኩዋን ከዘመነ ጸደይ ወደ ዘመነ ክረምት መሸጋገሪያ ለሆነችው ዕለትና ለቅዱሳኑ ዓመታዊ ክብረ በዓል በሰላም አደረሳችሁ ✞✞✞✝

=>ስንዱ እመቤት ቤተ ክርስቲያን (ሃገራችን) ሁሉ ነገሯ በሥርዓት ነውና ዓመቱን በዘመናት ከፍላ ትጠቀማለች:: እሊሕም ዘመናት መጸው (ጽጌ): ሐጋይ (በጋ): ጸደይ (በልግ)ና ክረምት ናቸው:: ዘመናቱ ወቅቶችን ከመለየትና ማሳወቅ ባሻገር የእኛ ሕይወትም ምሳሌዎች ናቸውና ልብ ልንላቸው ይገባል::

+በተለይ ጌታችን ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ለስም አጠራሩ ጌትነት ይሁንና "ሽሽታችሁ (ስደታችሁ) በክረምትና በሰንበት እንዳይሆን ጸልዩ" ብሎናልና (ማቴ. 24:20) ልንጸልይ ይገባናል:: በዘመነ ክረምት ቅጠል እንጂ ፍሬ የለበትምና ፍሬ ምግባር ሣናፈራ ሞት እንዳይመጣ: አንድም ክረምት የዝናብና የጭቃ ጊዜ በመሆኑ እንኩዋንስ ለስደት ለኑሮም አይመችምና እንደ ሊቃውንት እንዲህ ብለን እንጸልይ:-

"በዝንቱ ክረምት በመዋዕሊነ:
እንበለ ፍሬ እንዘ በቆጽል ኀሎነ:
ናስተበቁዐከ እግዚኦ ኢይኩን ጉያነ::"
(ክረምት በተባለ በእኛ እድሜ:
ፍሬ ሳናፈራ በቅጠል /ያለ መልካም ሥራ/ ሳለን:
አቤቱ ጌታ ሆይ ስደትን አታምጣብን)

=>ቸሩ አምላካችን ከዘመነ መጸው በሰላም ያድርሰን:: ተረፈ ዘመኑንም የንስሃ: የፍሬና የበረከት ያድርግልን::

=>በዚሕች ዕለት እነዚህ ቅዱሳን ይከበራሉ:-

+" ቅዱስ ይሁዳ ሐዋርያ "+

+በዘመነ ሐዋርያት ይሁዳ ተብለው ይጠሩ ከነበሩት አንዱ የሆነው ቅዱሱ የአረጋዊው ቅዱስ ዮሴፍ ልጅ ሲሆን እናቱ ማርያም ትባል ነበር:: እናቱ ስትሞትበት ተጎድቶ የነበረ ቢሆንም ገና በልጅነቱ ድንግል ማርያም አግኝታው በፍጹም ጸጋ አሳድጋዋለች:: አስተዳደጉም ከጌታችን ጋር በአንድ ቤት ነበር::
ጌታችን እርሱንና ወንድሞቹን (ያዕቆብና ስምዖንን) ከ72ቱ አርድእት ቆጥሯቸዋል:: ቅዱስ ይሁዳ ወንጌል ላይ ከጌታችን ጋር መነጋገሩን ዮሐንስ ወንጌላዊ መዝግቧል:: (ዮሐ. 14:22)

+ቅዱስ ይሁዳ ከጌታችን እግር 3 ዓመት ተምሮ: መንፈስ ቅዱስንም ተቀብሎ ብዙ አሕጉራትን ዙሯል:: አይሁድንም አረማውያንንም ወደ ክርስቶስ ይመልስ ዘንድ ብዙ ድካምና ስቃይን በአኮቴት ተቀብሏል:: አንዲት አጭር (ባለ አንድ ምዕራፍ) መልእክትም ጽፏል:: አጭር ትምሰል እንጂ ምሥጢሯ እጅግ የሠፋ ነው:: ቅዱስ ይሁዳን በዚህች ቀን አረማውያን ገድለውት በሐዋርያነቱ ላይ የሰማዕትነትን ካባ ደርቧል::

+" ቅዱሳን ዺላጦስና አብሮቅላ "+

=>ብዙዎቻችን መስፍኑን ዺላጦስ መጽሐፍ ቅዱስ ውስጥ ጌታችን እንዳይሰቀል ከአይሁድ ጋር ሲከራከር እናውቀዋለን:: የጌታችን ሞቱ በፈቃዱ ነበርና አይሁድ እንቢ ሲሉት የክርስቶስን ንጽሕና መስክሮ: እጁንም ታጥቦ ሰጥቷቸዋል:: የዺላጦስ ታሪክ ግን እዚህ ላይ አያበቃም::

+ጌታችን ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ሞትን ድል አድርጐ ከተነሳ በሁዋላ ትንሳኤውን በራዕይ ገልጦለት አይሁድን ተከራክሯቸዋል:: ውሸታም ወታደሮችንም ቀጥቷል:: በመጨረሻ ግን በሮም ቄሳር ተጠርቶ ከእሥራኤል እስከ ሮም ድረስ ሰብኮ በሮም አደባባይ አንገቱ ተሠይፏል::

+ቅድስት እናታችን አብሮቅላም የዺላጦስ ሚስት ስትሆን ቁጥሯ ከ36ቱ ቅዱሳት አንስት ነው:: ጌታችንን ተከትላ: ቤቷን ለሐዋርያት አስረክባ: ቤተ ክርስቲያንንም በዘመኗ አገልግላ ዐርፏለች:: ዛሬ ሁለቱም ቅዱሳን ይታሠባሉ::

=>ጌታችን ከሐዋርያው ይሁዳ: ከዺላጦስና አብሮቅላም ጸጋ በረከትን ያድለን::

✞✞✞On this day we conclude the Season of Tsedey/Belg [Ethiopian Autumn/Fall – Spring in the West] to start the Season of Kiremt (Ethiopian Winter) and commemorate the Martyrdom of Saint Jude one of the Seventy, the Saints Pontius Pilate and Procla✞✞✞

✞✞✞In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, one God. Amen!✞✞✞

=>The Church (our state), a prepared Lady, does everything in order, hence She utilizes the year by dividing it into seasons. These seasons are called Metsew /Tsege [Ethiopian Spring – Autumn in the West], Hagay/Bega [Ethiopian Summer – Winter in the West], Tsedey/Belg [Ethiopian Autumn/Fall – Spring in the West] and Kiremt [Ethiopian Winter – Summer in the West]. Because the periods, beyond differentiating the seasons, are a symbol to our lives, we should give due attention to them.

✞Particularly, as our Lord Jesus Christ, to Whose name’s invocation be glory, had said, “. . . pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day” (Matt. 24:20), we should pray.

✞Thus;
*To not depart without bearing fruits of virtue since during the season of winter there abound leaves and not fruits.
*And also because winter is a time of rain and mud, and since it is not suitable for flight or living, we should pray like the scholars saying,
“In our age termed winter
While we are with leaves, without bearing fruits
O Lord do not bring upon us flight.”

=>May our Good God enable us to reach the Season of Metsew /Tsege [Ethiopian Spring – Autumn in the West]. And may He make the rest of the year a time of repentance, a time of bearing fruits, and blessing.

✞✞✞ Saint Jude the Apostle✞✞✞
=> The Saint, who was one of those that were called "Jude" in the Era of the Apostles, was the son of St. Joseph the Elder (the Betrothed), and his mother was named Mary (not the Theotokos). Though he was hurt when his mother departed, the Virgin Mary found him in his childhood and raised him in complete grace. And his growth was with our Lord in the same house.

✞And our Lord counted him and his brothers (James and Simon) with the 72 Disciples [while He ministered]. St. John the Evangelist recorded in the Gospel that St. Jude had spoken with our Lord. (John 14:22)

✞ After learning under our Lord for 3 years and receiving the Holy Spirit, St. Jude went preaching in many nations. And he has endured much pain and affliction from Jews and Arameans so that he would turn them to Christ. He has also written a short letter (with only one chapter). Though the letter seems brief, its mystery is extensive.

✞ The Saint was killed/martyred on this day by Arameans. Hence, to his apostleship was added the coat of martyrdom.

✞✞✞Saints Pontius Pilate and Procla✞✞✞
=>Many of us know Pontius Pilate from the Bible while arguing with Jews that our Lord not be crucified. But as the death of our Lord was by His own will, when Jews said no [to freeing Him], he testified the purity of Christ, washed his hands, and handed Him over to them. However, the story of Pilate does not end here.

✞After our Lord rose from the dead, defeating death, because He disclosed His resurrection to him in a revelation, Pilate has debated the Jews. He has also punished soldiers that testified falsely. Finally, when the Roman Caesar summoned him, he preached from Israel to Rome and was slain in the Roman square.

✞Our holy mother, Procla, was the wife of Pilate and is counted as one of the 36 Holy Women. She followed Christ, left her home for the Apostles, served the Church in her days, and departed. Today, the remembrance of both Saints takes place.

✞✞✞May our Lord grant us from the grace and blessing of the Apostle Jude, Pontus Pilate, and Procla.

††† ✝እንኳን ለታላቁ ነቢይ ቅዱስ ኢያሱ ዓመታዊ የዕረፍት በዓል በሰላም አደረሳችሁ፣ አደረሰን። ✝†††

††† በስመ አብ ወወልድ ወመንፈስ ቅዱስ አሐዱ አምላክ አሜን! †††

††† ✝ቅዱስ ኢያሱ ነቢይ ወመስፍን ✝†††

††† ቅዱሱ የተወለደው በምድረ ግብፅ በባርነት ከነበሩ እሥራኤላውያን ሲሆን የቀደመ ስሙ "አውሴ" ይባላል:: ዘመኑ እግዚአብሔር ሕዝቡን ከ215 ዓመታት ባርነት ሊያወጣ የተቃረበበት ነውና ሊቀ ነቢያት ሙሴ ከምድያም ሲመለስ ከመረጣቸው ተከታዮቹ ዋነኛው ኢያሱ ነበር:: እሥራኤል ከባርነት ሲወጡ ሙሴ 80 ዓመቱ : ኢያሱ ደግሞ 40 ዓመቱ ነበር::

ሕዝቡ አንገተ ደንዳና ነበርና ለ40 ቀን የታሠበላቸውን መንገድ 40 ዓመት እንዲሆን አደረጉት:: በዚህ ጊዜ ኢያሱ ከመምሕሩ ከሙሴና ከሕዝቡ አልተለየም::

አውሴን "ኢያሱ" ብሎ ስም የቀየረለት ሙሴ ሲሆን ይሔውም በፈቃደ እግዚአብሔር ነው:: ኢያሱ ማለት "መድኃኒት" ማለት ነው::
ለዚሕም ምክንያቶች አሉት:- ለጊዜው አማሌቃውያንን ድል ነስቶ ሕዝቡን አድኗል:: ምድረ ርስትን አውርሷል::
ለፍጻሜው ግን ለጌታችን ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ምሳሌ (ጥላ) እንዲሆን ነው::

ቅዱስ ኢያሱ በበርሃ ለ40 ዘመናት እግዚአብሔርን አምልኮታል:: ሊቀ ነቢያትን ታዝዞታል (አገልግሎታል):: እሥራኤልንም የጦር አለቃ ሆኖ ከአሕዛብ እጅ አድኗቸዋል::

በዚህም በእግዚአብሔርና በሕዝቡ ዘንድ ሞገስን አግኝቷል:: ቅዱስ ሙሴ ደብረ ናባው ላይ ባረፈ ጊዜ ሕዝቡን : ካሕናቱንና ታቦተ ጽዮንን ተረከበ:: ይህን ጊዜ ዕድሜው 80 እየሆነ ነበር::

††† እግዚአብሔርም ኢያሱን "ከአንተ ጋር ነኝ" ብሎ በሕዝቡ ላይ ነቢይና መስፍን (አስተዳዳሪ) እንዲሆን ሾመው:: ቅዱሱም ሰላዮችን ልኮ አስገምግሞ:
¤ባሕረ ዮርዳኖስን ከፍሎ
¤ሕዝቡን አሻግሮ
¤የኢያሪኮን ቅጥር 7 ጊዜ ዙሮ
¤በኃይለ እግዚአብሔር አፍርሶ
¤የኢያሪኮን ነገሥታት አጥፍቶ ለሕዝቡ ምድረ ርስትን አወረሰ::

የገባዖን ሰዎች "አድነን" ብለው በላኩበት ጊዜ ነገሥተ አሞሬዎንን ይወጋ ዘንድ ኢያሱ ወጣ:: እነዚያን ግሩማን ነገሥታት በፈጣሪው ኃይል : በጦርና በተአምራት ድል ነስቶ የእግዚአብሔር ስሙ ከፍ ከፍ አለ:: በዚያች ዕለትም ለ12ቱ ነገደ እሥራኤል ርስትን ሲያካፍል ፀሐይን በገባዖን: ጨረቃን ደግሞ በቆላተ ኤሎም (በኤሎም ሸለቆ) አቆመ::

ሰባት አሕጉራተ ምስካይ (የመማጸኛ ከተሞችን) ለየ:: ነቢይና መስፍን ሆኖ ሕዝቡን ለ40 ዓመታት አገለገለ:: በመጨረሻም ለሕዝቡ አላቸው:-
"እኔና ቤቴ እግዚአብሔርን እናመልካለን:: (ኢያ. 24) እናንተስ?" አላቸው:: እነርሱም "እኛም እንዳንተ ነን" አሉት:: ለዚህም ምልክት ይሆን ዘንድ 3 ገጽ ያላት ሐውልትን በመካከላቸው አቆመ::

ይህችውም የቅድስት ድንግል ማርያም ምሳሌ ናት:: ሐውልቷ 3 ገጽ እንዳላት እመቤታችንም በ3 ወገን (በነፍስ: በሥጋ: በልቡና) ድንግል ናት:: አንድም በ3 ወገን (ከኃልዮ: ከነቢብ: ከገቢር ኃጢአት) ንጽሕት ናት:: ለዚህም ነው አባ ሕርያቆስ
"ሐውልተ ስምዕ ዘኢያሱ" (የኢያሱ የምስክር ሐውልት አንቺ ነሽ) ሲል ያመሰገናት::

✞✞✞On this day we commemorate the Great Prophet Saint Joshua✞✞✞

✞✞✞In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, one God. Amen!✞✞✞

✞✞✞Saint Joshua the Prophet and Judge✞✞✞
=>The Saint was born in Egypt from Israelite parents who were in bondage. His former name was Oshea. And as the time for God to free His people from 215 years of slavery approached, Joshua was foremost among the followers of the Arch-prophet Moses that were selected after his return from Midian. When Israel were freed from captivity, Moses was 80 years old and Joshua was 40.

✞However, because the people [of Israel] were stiff-necked, they made the journey [to the Promised Land] which would have taken them 40 days into 40 years. During those days, Joshua was with his teacher/master Moses and his people. And Moses was the one who changed his name, Oshea, to Joshua by the Will of God.

✞ Joshua means “Salvation.” And there are reasons for this:
1. For the time being - he defeated the Amalekites, saving his people and aiding them to inherit the Promised Land.
2. For the long run – he was a typology (a shadow of things to come) for our Lord Jesus Christ (the Savior).

✞St. Joshua worshipped God for many years in the desert. And he served the Arch-prophet as well. He also saved Israel from the hands of the gentiles as a general. And for this, he received favor from God and the Israelites. When Moses passed away on Mt. Nebo, Joshua took responsibility for the people, priests, and the Ark of the Covenant. And he was 80 years old when this occurred.

✞God anointed him upon the people as a Prophet and a Judge saying, “I am with thee.”

✞Then, the Saint, after sending spies [into Canaan/Jericho],
*parted the Jordan River
*aided the people to cross
*marched seven times around the walls of Jericho
*destroyed it [the wall] by the Power of God
*eliminated the Kings of Jericho and
*led the people to inherit the Promised Land.

✞Joshua also went out to do battle with the kings of the Amorites because Gibeonites appealed to him saying, “Save us.” Hence, the name of God was elevated as Joshua defeated those feared kings by the power of his Creator, with battle and a miracle. On that day, he stopped the sun at Gibeon and the moon in the Valley of Ajalon when he divided the land to the 12 Tribes of Israel.

✞He also separated 7 Cities of Refuge. And he served the people as a prophet and a judge for 40 years. Finally, he said to them, “Me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Whom ye will [serve]?” (Adapted from Josh. 24:15) To which they responded, “Same as you.” And as a sign for this, he put up a great stone with 3 facades in their midst.

✞And it was a symbol for the Virgin Saint Mary. As the statue had 3 facades, our Lady is virgin in three aspects (her soul, flesh, and nous). She is also pure in three features (from the sins of thought, speech and act). This is why Abba Heryakos praised her saying,
“[You are] the stone of testimony of Joshua” (Anaphora of St. Mary No.34).

✞The Great Prophet Joshua passed away in the midst of his kinfolk, 120 years after his birth (scripture says 110 years) and 80 years after they came out from Egypt. He was buried at the entombment ground of Jacob. Israel mourned him for 30 days.

✞✞✞May God, Who demolished the fortress of the gentiles by the hand of His beloved Joshua, destroy our bastion of sin by the intercessions of His beloved. And may He grant us from the blessing of the Holy Prophet.
